• Your SALVATION!
• MT 3:12

31. “…all that I have written seems like straw” | Aquinas
Before we do Theology
• Theologizing ground rules from St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-
1274)
1. Our words cannot come close to fully describing God
2. It is useful to discuss God (theology) so let’s do the best
we can
3. All our description have to be grounded in truth
33. “…your faith has made you well” | MT 12:4
“What is Faith?”
162 Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man. We can lose this
priceless gift, as St. Paul indicated to St. Timothy: "Wage the good warfare,
holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting conscience, certain
persons have made shipwreck of their faith."44
To live, grow and persevere in the faith until the end we must nourish it
with the word of God; we must beg the Lord to increase our faith;45
it must
be "working through charity," abounding in hope, and rooted in the faith of
the Church.46
• 44 | 1 Tim 1:18-19.
• 45 | Mk 9:24; Lk 17:5; 22:32.
• 46 | Gal 5:6; Rom 15:13; cf. Jas 2:14-26.
34. “…all life… all holiness comes from you” | Eucharistic Prayer
“Universal Call to Holiness”
Lumen Gentium - Dogmatic Constitution on the Church
CHAPTER V: THE UNIVERSAL CALL TO HOLINESS IN THE CHURCH
39. The Church… is believed to be indefectibly holy. Indeed Christ…
who is praised as "uniquely holy," loved the Church … that He might
sanctify her.(214). Therefore in the Church, everyone … is called to
holiness…
In other words…
We owe it to Jesus to try to be Holy.
35. “It’s love that holds it all together… I just had to let you know.”
Faith vs. Religion
37. “All we have to decide is what to do with the time we are given.”
“Fellowship of the Ring”
38. “The Faith of Your Fathers”
• This IS your Grandma’s faith
• This is NOT your Grandma’s faith
• You own it
• Make it your own
• What will you decide

Jesus is written on your heart.
I don’t like to introduce myself,
- but you do deserve to know who you’re dealing with tonight.
- SPECIFICALLY:
- Why I was invited to speak to you tonight.
I have just earned a Masters Degree in PA
- Theology & How to apply theology in caring for people in the workplace
I do a lot of presentations, and very much enjoy sharing my knowledge & experience to try to help people.
- 10 year experience doing that.
- retreats, writing, small faith groups
Basically, I’m, just an ordinary person able to be a public witness to our Christian Faith.
God made, Jesus saves, Spirit guides me every day… when I let it…
That’s my Faith Journey
We’re all in this together
Different places and stages of faith journey, but all together

Thanks to Amanda for the invitation
Thanks to you for being here.
Whatever the reason you are here, thank you for being here.
WHY DOES HE CARE THAT I’M HERE???
But what’s more important?
Your Academic Training to meet the challenges of the WORLD is at minimum 5X than Spiritual Training
Familiaris Consortio. John Paul states, “[the parents] role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate for their failure in it.” (36).
“Baptism is the sacrament of faith. But faith needs the community of believers”. (CCC 1253).
"Lumen Gentium" is a dogmatic constitution, a document of the highest level of the ordinary magisterium
- teaching authority of the Church - embodied in the episcopacy, which is the aggregation of the current bishops of the Church in union with the Pope
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (MT 28:19-20).
- we all do that in our own unique and gifted ways.
WHY THIS DISCUSSION???
Here’s one reason from the movie…
Well… that’s encouraging, isn’t it?
“Hey, it’s a free country… he’s entitled to his opinion.
TRUE – but that does not mean that we – AS CHRISTIANS - have to just sit back and take is.
If you tell someone often enough that they CAN’T do something… they won’t be able to.
Prepare you for the *WORLD* that awaits you
Jesus said “My kingdom is not of this world”
But you and I are placed in this world, and we cannot avoid interacting with it
…. Unless Hermit
“Life being true Christ is a whole lot better than life without Christ”
So what happens when YOU need or want to make an important decision?
Because of a long, slow decrease in the understanding of my faith, I allowed, and even encouraged not one abortion, but two.
Now… when I was 15… there’s NO WAY that would have happened.
But degradation of my faith
Rachel’s Vinyard
“He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire." MT 3:12
Italian priest of the Catholic Church in the Dominican Order,
immensely influential philosopher and theologian
Aquinas was celebrating the Mass of St Nicholas when he heard Jesus talk to him. Jesus asked him what he wanted due to his good deeds, but he replied "Only you Lord. Only you.“
Because of what he saw, he abandoned his routine and refused to dictate.
When he was begged to get back to work, Aquinas replied: “I cannot, because all that I have written seems like straw to me."
Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man.
We must nourish it
not parents, friends, the Church
each of us as individuals
WE HAVE A REPSONSIBILITY TO THE WORLD
Discipline = Freedom
