A team from SEBRAE helped over 400 entrepreneurs at Campus Party Recife 2012 create business model canvases using the Business Model Canvas methodology over 3 days. The goal was to create over 200 canvases but they exceeded expectations. Both the entrepreneurs and SEBRAE found the process useful to analyze and improve upon business ideas. The event received significant press coverage.
2. #Startups Sebrae Immersion
Innovative actions with Business Model Canvas, a method developed by Alex
Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur, applied during the Campus Party Recife
2012.
A team composed with 16 local innovation agents, provided by Sebrae, has
interacted with “campuseiros” for three intensive days, helping all entrepreneurs
through an exercise of creating, analyzing, reviewing, discovering and
rethinking their business ideas using the Business Model Canvas.
This action has received a huge press coverage and
results achieved: more than 400 canvas!!!
3. The Challenge
The beginning of this case is when Maria Augusto Orofino and Marcelo
Pimenta did a workshop in Brasilia, improving the methodology to the group
of creative and digital economy in Sebrae.
After that, Maria Augusta Orofino trained about 60 “Local Innovation
Agents”, in Santa Catarina , who acted in Campus Party like facilitators.
In Campus Recife, our goal was to spread to all entrepreneurs the concepts
of business model based on Business Model Generation methodology. The
original goal was to create, in 3 days, more than 200 business canvas.
Testing the methodology, as a pilot on Campus Party Recife, so we could
expand the approach to Campus São Paulo in 2013.
And creating constant feedback cycle for continuous improvement.

6. The Results
For entrepreneurs:
§ Give focus and attention to aspects of the
business that had not yet been analyzed;
§ Dynamic tool, using post-its, allowing to
see the business in one page, with clarity
§ All of them willing to practice more and
go deeper into the methodology
For Sebrae:
As a pilot project, the action achieved
the goal as an experiment, as a
laboratory, where the team was able to
learn important things from the field and
consolidate suggestions for
improvements to be incorporated in
future editions.
