Through segmenting of the conversation into basic categories we can isolate contributors who partake in particular topics or those who hold certain sentiment towards a party or politician. We can then extract certain demographic information about the individuals in these separate groups.
2. Category Metrics - Pro and Anti DA
In this section we have segmented the conversation into two basic categories -
Pro and Anti DA. We can then extract demographic information about the
individuals engaging in these separate groups.
The Pro DA category includes all the content from the following sub categories:
Democratic Alliance - Positive
Pro DA vs ANC
Pro DA vs EFF
DA + Multi Party - General Positive
The Anti DA category includes all the content from the following sub
categories:
Democratic Alliance - Negative
Pro ANC vs DA
Pro EFF vs DA
DA + Multi Party - General Negative
3. Pro DA Gender Demographics
34% of all posts had an identifiable gender
35% were female - 65% male
When comparing men and women’s perspectives on the party, the same key components (#DA,
@helenzille, vote, Musi and ANC) are evident in both parties. Unexpectedly, men drove 65% of the total
conversation.
4. Anti DA Gender Demographics
30% of all posts had an identifiable gender
35% were female - 65% male
Considering just the negative conversation, we note that 65% of the conversation is driven by Men and (with
the difference of men engaging @khayadlanga far more than women do) there is very few major differences
between the conversations.
