JOB TITLE: Prevention Specialist - Human Services
EXEMPT: .6 – 1.0 FTE
SALARY RANGE:
SUPERVISOR: Addictions Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing, monitoring and evaluating CCH and Curry County
prevention programs as contained in the County Biennial Implementation Plan.
Designs and monitors outcome evaluation activities relative to CCH and Curry
County prevention efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organizes prevention activities
2. Develops and/or procures research-based outcome evaluation instruments
3. Facilitates skill development groups and activities
4. Monitors and coordinates prevention skill development efforts throughout the
county
5. Develops and administers grants and proposals
6. Monitors and evaluates grant awards
7. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on skill level and job performance, may provide supervision to uncertified
prevention specialists or volunteers
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of –
Risk & Protective Factor Education, Assets & Resiliency;
Basic learning theories;
Delinquency, Teen pregnancy, school dropout, violence prevention, sexually
transmitted diseases,
Positive Youth Development
Substance Abuse
Gambling Abuse and Addiction
Ability to -
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
Work effectively with community partners and coalitions
Accept, and learn from, clinical supervision;
2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships
Use sound judgment in decision making

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree in Human Service related field and one year of experience
providing prevention activities; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of
experience and training. Computer literacy.
Certification
Certified as a Prevention Specialist or make application within (12) months of
employment and receive the Certified Prevention Specialist Credential within (24)
months of the application date.
Valid Oregon Driver License

is the Local Public Health Agency for Curry County and therefore is mandated to
