3. UNIQUE LONDON VENUE The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce The House, designed by Robert Adam in the early 1770s, is the historic home of the RSA. A famous centre for Enlightenment thinking, the building has been the intellectual and social home of some of the greatest thinkers and social activists of the past 200 years. Today it is also recognised as one of the most exclusive and sought after locations in London for a wide range of commercial and social events.

Conferences and seminars The Great Room, decorated with James Barry's spectacular 18th-century mural, The Progress of Human Knowledge and Culture, offers a versatile auditorium for up to 200 guests with state-of-the-art AV equipment. For smaller meetings or seminars we have a wide range of rooms, accommodating from 10 to 200 people.
7. Press events, product launches & private screenings The Durham Street Auditorium is perfect for press screenings, whilst intimate launches and presentations are ideal in our other boutique House event spaces, such as the Folkstone, Tavern and Romney rooms.
8. THE GREAT ROOM This is one of the most spectacular and delightful lecture theatres in London. The tiered seating and a glass domed roof allowing daylight to illuminate the celebrated paintings The Progress of Human Knowledge, by James Barry which adorn the upper walls. Complete black-out can be introduced for presentations.

10. DURHAM STREET AUDITORIUM This theatre has been built on the last remaining stretch of 18th-century cobbled roadway, which was part of a tunnel beneath the House leading down to the Thames. It features seating designed by Robin Day and state of the art audio visual equipment including Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and a Sanyo PLV-HD2000E projector. It can accommodate up to 60 people. It can be combined with the Vaults for a pre-show reception or a post-movie dinner.

12. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN ROOM This spacious and elegant room features a beautiful Victorian crystal chandelier and two original Adam fireplaces. Its light, bright atmosphere is enhanced by a giant window that runs the length of the room affording a stunning view out onto the Strand. This room is ideal for meetings, dinners and receptions for up to 150.

15. ADELPHI ROOM The Adam brothers' Adelphi development was at the heart of 18th-century cafe society. At one time the House was part of the Adelphi Hotel. The Adelphi Room was a very fashionable dining room and is mentioned in Dickens' Pickwick Papers. Today the Adelphi still provides a great dining room for up to 30 people, but it is also perfect for board meetings, presentations and product launches. The room accommodates 30 people for meetings, or 50 for reception functions.

17. TAVERN ROOM This plainly decorated boardroom with a polished wooden floor and simple Adam ceiling is ideal for small presentations, board meetings and candlelit dinners. It seats up to 30 people, and can accommodate up to 50 people reception-style. The room currently features a series of etchings by Chris Ofili, on loan from the Arts Council.

19. ROMNEY ROOM This large room boasts a stunning original Adam ceiling. Its large floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that the room is flooded with natural light throughout the day, and provide an atmospheric backdrop to any candlelit evening event. It is elegantly decorated with contemporary artwork by Jane Harris and Craigie Aitchison, on loan to the RSA from the Arts Council. The Romney Room is perfect for meetings of up to 20 people around a boardroom table. It also provides the ideal setting for intimate dinners or drinks receptions for up to 40 people.

21. FOLKESTONE A traditional boardroom with a central table. It is decorated with artwork by Victor Newsome and Kenneth Martin, on loan from the Arts Council. SHIPLEY This period Georgian room boasting a stunning Adams ceiling with a Regency chandelier. There is a linking door to the Drawing Room for holding pre-event drinks or for catering during boardroom meetings. DRAWING ROOM Furnished in a relaxed, contemporary fashion, the Drawing Room is the perfect setting for casual meetings and gatherings.
22. VAULTS Originally designed as river front warehouses these fully restored vaults offer a striking contrast to the splendor of the rooms above. The series of interconnecting spaces offer a choice of secluded settings for intimate gatherings or, used as a whole, provide a spectacular backdrop to parties and product launches.
