Recording at https://youtu.be/kiLmtTvM_N0 In this Webinar we present a summary of the technical report ‘Photovoltaic Module Energy Yield Measurements: Existing Approaches and Best Practice’ [IEA-PVPS Report T13-11:2018], prepared within the Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The presentations will focus on the measurement of modules in the field for the purpose of energy yield or performance assessments. The aim is to help anyone intending to start energy yield measurements of individual PV modules to obtain a technical insight into the topic, to be able to set-up his own test facility or to better understand how to interpret results measured by third parties. Therefore, fifteen Task members with experience in PV module monitoring from over 30 test facilities installed all over the world have been interviewed . The questionnaire covered all aspects, starting from general questions on the scope of testing to the test equipment, procedures, maintenance practice, data analysis and reporting. The current practices for energy yield measurements of individual PV modules applied by the major international research institutes and test laboratories will be presented together with some best practice recommendations. Beside the recent research activities will be presented by the two presenters, including test results from different climatic regions and different technologies such as bifacial and colored modules.

This article proposes a topology for single-phase two stage grid connected solar photovoltaic (PV) inverter for residential applications. Our proposed grid-connected power converter consists of a switch mode DC-DC boost converter and a H-bridge inverter. The switching strategy of proposed inverter consists with a combination of sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) and square wave along with grid synchronization condition. The performance of the proposed inverter is simulated under grid-connected scenario via PSIM. Furthermore, the intelligent PV module system is implemented using a simple maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method utilizing power balance is also employed in order to increase the systems efficiency.

Abstract— The paper presents a low cost virtual instrument for monitoring the power quality events. The problem of power quality concerns the interferences which can be present in the mains. These electromagnetic disturbances can overcome a large interval of frequencies and can be present in industrial, domestic as well as commercial system .As main negative effects we can mention the high order harmonics, voltage fluctuations, flickers and disturbances with high slew-rates It is frequently indispensable to measure power quality indexes in wide electric power plant or in industrial zones. To this aim a low cost smart web sensors has been designed and implemented to acquire, process and transmit data over 802.3 network .It is organized in multi micro controller system. The first one dedicated to the data acquisition and the other to data processing, dynamic HTML pages construction and TCP/IP stack management. Key features of realized devices are low cost, data processing and remote communication capabilities, the possibility to provide data with any internet browser.

The MC640 / MC646 multifunction meter is intended for monitoring and measuring electrical quantities of a three-phase electric-energy distribution system. The meter is provided with 32 program adjustable alarms, up to four input or output modules and communication. With the RS 485 communication the meter can be set and measurements can be checked. The meter functions also as an energy meter, with the additional function of cost management by tariffs. A tariff input or a tariff clock can be set. At tariff clock setting, four periods and four work groups as well as electric energy price for each period and work groups (16 different price periods) are available. Additionally 20 places are available for setting holidays or days when special tariff rules are valid. As anenergy meter it records energy in all four quadrants and four tariffs.
