Take each of the different CBD criteria in turn (see your list in your theoretical background) and use the criteria as subheadings: e.g. PEDESTRIAN COUNTS “ The CBD is often the busiest part of a town or city and therefore it is expected that the focus of the CBD would have the highest pedestrian counts” Then go on to compare the pedestrian counts for the four streets - e.g. a simple BAR CHART with the 4 pedestrian counts on. - Describe what shows – i.e. compare the streets- highest count / lowest count and discuss / suggest explanations for what is shown – i.e. is it what expected? Can you explain it? Etc.

This is Analysis “ Our count of the Broadway also encompassed part of Crown Street, so the numbers may be higher than they would be but I do not think it will make a serious difference, as most people that part of Crown Street were either walking through to or coming from the Broadway. The Broadway attracts quite a lot of pedestrians because it leads to the Waits, where many people go to sit and look at the river, and because it is an access road for pedestrians to Bridge Street and the main town. Bridge Street itself was not much less busy than the Broadway, but most of the people were not just passing through, but visiting the shops. “

A map to show the location of Department and Chain stores in St Ives REMEMBER – AEGIS has a search function – therefore you can ask it to plot just certain types of land-use that you might associate with a CBD – likewise if you wanted you could ask if to show the tallest buildings – see your instruction sheets for how to do this!
