The document provides a risk assessment for a student's music video project. It identifies 9 potential risks: 1) illness of actors or director, 2) scheduling conflicts, 3) injury during filming, especially a fire scene, 4) adverse weather interfering with outdoor shoots, 5) memory cards filling up, 6) interference from the public during outdoor shoots, 7) equipment damage or faults, 8) insufficient battery charge for cameras, and 9) failure to acquire necessary props. As the director, the student would be responsible for mitigating these risks and rescheduling any affected shoots.
1. Risk Assessment
For my music video I shall have to produce a risk assessment providing all the risks
that may cause harm to myself or any actors within the video, any disruptions to the
shooting of the video or risks involving the filming equipment and also the risk of the
public within the spots where they might be pedestrians walking about doing things
they need to do within their life.
1) One risk I shall have to consider is an illness any of my actors or myself. This
could happen at ay of the locations and would be out of my control. To overcome this,
if an actor or myself becomes ill a message should be sent to the other people who are
due to shoot in the same scene and a new filming date shall be made.
2) A second risk I shall have to consider is any time clashes or inconveniences due to
the schedules on certain days. This could happen at anytime, so I shall require a
message explaining reasons why they could not make the shoot and to overcome this
we shall arrange a day, which everyone who is involved can be involved.
3) A further risk is injury to my actors or myself. This could happen at any location,
especially the scene involving the fire. This would be my responsibility as I am the
director of the music video and the ideas are my own, therefore I have to take full
responsibility for my actors, I am also responsible for my own well being.
4) Another risk would be the weather, which would cause problems outdoors. This is
completely out of my control, as I cannot control the weather. I shall check weather
reports, yet if the weather does inevitably pose a threat to a shoot, then I shall
message any actors who are required on that specific day and reschedule with them
for the next day we are all available.
5) A risk involving the camera is that the memory card within may get full and stop
shooting. This could happen at any location and at any point. To overcome this
problem I shall always make sure that I have spare memory cards with me to keep
shooting running smoothly and without any problems. This would be my
2. responsibility as I am the director and any problems involving equipment is all my
responsibility as I shall be taking it out of college and it will be in my name.
6) A risk that would only occur outdoors is interference by the public. This could
occur when the male lead is walking down the street or even when at the beach. The
only way to overcome this is that, if needs be, to re-shoot the scene which was
interfered with to withdraw any public interaction.
7) Another risk involving the equipment is if any of the equipment shall be broken or
become faulty. As I shall be using a camera of my own for certain scenes and a
camera from the college in my name I shall be held responsible for any damage to the
equipment. This could happen at any location due to a number of possibilities so I
shall have to be extremely careful when filming.
8) A further risk of the equipment is the charge of the camera. As I am the director I
shall be held responsible for the camera charge, to overcome this I shall charge the
cameras well before I need them to ensure that they have the full charge to be used.
This risk could be a possibility at any of the locations.
9) Failure to acquire any of the props I shall need will be my fault as I am the director
of the music video. To ensure I do not make this risk a reality, I shall consider what
shoot I am doing and will make sure I have all the props that are needed for that
shoot, such as the wood, paper and a lighter for the scenes involving the fire.
