5. The North West is well placed
to capitalise on the new
drivers of logistics location
• E-commerce and the growth
of multi-channel retail
• The growth of portcentric
logistics
• Rising interest in intermodal
logistics
6. Outlook
• Business sentiment is slowly improving:
• CBI Industrial Trends Survey (May): +18% output expectations.
• BCC forecasts (31 May): GDP growth upgraded.
• Market confidence is gradually improving with speculative development returning
– IM Properties at Birch Coppice (West Midlands).
• We expect corporate demand in the logistics market to increase this year.
• The North West is the largest regional economy outside London and the South East
with an excellent logistics ‘offer’.
• It is well placed to capitalise on trends in e-commerce, portcentric logistics and intermodal logistics.
