Step 1 Configure your VM device settings
Start your VM.Clickon Devicesonthe menubar | SelectNetworkSettings
On the Settingsdialogbox,selectNetwork|fromthe Attachedto listselectNAT
The NAT enablesyourhostmachine toact as a routeror Network Address Translator|ClickOK
Step 2 Configure Ubuntu network settings
Go to System| Administration|ClickonNetworkTools
3. Clickon Wiredconnection1(if you’re usingawiredconnection) |ClickEdit
Clickon Wirelesstab(if youare usingyourwirelessconnectiontoaccessthe internet) |ClickEdit
If you are usingyourwirelessconnectionthenclickonthe Wirelesstab |Clickon Add
Ensure that the the “Connectautomatically”optionischecked |ThenclickonIPv4 Settings|Ensure that
Automatic(DHCP) methodisselected |UnderSSIDtype the DWU studentnetwirelessAPname |Save
4. If you are wiredtoa LAN connectionviacable,youneedtoclickonthe Wiredtab | Selectthe firstconnection
| Clickon Edit| Ensure that underIPv4 settings,Automatic(DHCP) isselected |Save
Finallyclose all dialogboxesandrestartyourUbuntuVM. Once you restart,

Clickon the Firefox icon
Go to Edit | Preferences |ClickonAdvanced|Clickon Networktab| SelectSettings
Make sure to select Auto-detectproxysettingsfor thisnetwork | ClickOK andclose the dialogbox
6. Once all thisis done,youshouldbe able toconnectto the internet.Thiswill enable youtodownloadsamba,
and otherLinux Ubuntuappsthat you wouldwantto install onyourVM. Please follow thistutorial andwhen
youconnect tothe internetdownloadthe Sambaupdatesusingthiscommandinthe terminal
sudo apt-get updates
