Sep. 1997 - Oct. 2000 Shearwater Development Alliance Integrated Deck Hook Up & Commissioning.
Position - Senior Planning Engineer
Employed by AMEC process and energy I joined the project at the design stage and spent
15 months in AMEC’s Golden Lane office in London.
Initially work involved preparing schedules covering the development work to allow the
timely commencement of the onshore commissioning phase.
The Artemis 7000 planning system and various Microsoft software packages were used in
this work.
Initial plans covering the onshore commissioning and offshore hook up and
commissioning phases were prepared.
Following this I moved to AMEC’s fabrication yard in Wallsend where the detailed
planning of the onshore commissioning was continued. Interfacing with the construction
site planners was carried out to arrive at reasonable system handover dates that made up
the basis of the plan.
Precedence networks input into the Artemis 7000 system were used to produce detailed
plans, progress ‘S’ curves and manpower histograms which were monitored against each
week. Progress and productivity reports were produced using AMEC’s jobcard
management system (JMS). The schedule impact of missed handover dates were analysed
and advised and short-term lookaheads were produced. During the latter stages of the
onshore phase the detailed planning of the offshore hook up and commissioning phase
was undertaken.
Using precedence networks input to the Artemis 7000 system and AMEC’s jobcard
management system, detailed plans, progress ‘S’ curve and manpower histograms were
produced.
The project then moved to offshore on a two week about rota where I monitored actual
progress against the plan and advised of schedule impacts. Short-term lookaheads were
produced in order to indicate priority work areas
Interfacing with design was carried out in order to indicate when commissioning design
deliverables were required.
