African YOUTHS Must Decide
1. AFRICAN YOUTHS MUST DECIDE
Africa cannot move forward if the Youths don’t take part (in) and possibly
take over Politics and Leadership roles.
For so long, since democracy crept into the continent, the fates of the people
have always been determined by old men whose interests often stop at
looting the economy and enriching themselves and their families. We can see
the fruits of their leadership in most nations enduring unimaginable
sufferings of hunger and impoverishment in line with ever dwindling
economies. Time and again, these old men in power would not relinquish
power to the younger generation, clinging to presidential seats for decades
while the economy of their various places tarnish. This is of course most
endemic in Africa.
Today, there are host of grave problems threatening our continent. It’d only
require youths with fresh minds and able to cultivate fertile initiatives to
tackle issues such as droughts, famines, desertification and climate change.
The famous Lake Chad that feeds North-Eastern Nigeria, Niger, Chad and
Cameroon is almost totally disappeared from the face of the earth while our
leaders slept on their posts about the matter- most probably because it has
little to do with oil.
About poverty, hunger and diseases- which have eroded the continent for
years. If the Government does not provide standard research labs and
resources to encourage medical and microbiological researches across the
continent, how can we ever fight the numerous stubborn diseases
threatening our society? What about food security and farming. The
developed world have long advanced past the normal irrigation farming
system practised by our ancestors, to adopt new and smart methods of
farming that would ensure there is no such thing as food shortage, and even
