The design of the Edge System’s electrodes is unlike anything
available today. We've pushed the peaks of the electrode to
"the edge" to help deliver a stronger, more stable plasma field.
It’s because of this plasma field that the Edge System offers a
wide range of performance benefits. Ranging from increased
suction, greater visualization, less clogging, longer lasting probes
to joint temperature monitoring, and more versatile tissue effects.

Faster Bulk Tissue Ablation with Less Risk
The unique one-piece electrode, designed to prevent probe
degradation,allows the Edge™
Bipolar Arthroscopic Radiofrequency
System to safely use more power. This generates a stronger and
more stable plasma field which data shows has a higher grams-
per-minute ablation rate with a reduced risk of probe degradation.1
Better Visualization
The stronger and more stable plasma field allows for a greater
aspiration rate without sacrificing ablation performance - quickly
and efficiently removing bubbles and tissue debris that can impair
a surgeon’s field of view.
Data shows the large cross shape suction port of the Edge 90º probe
aspirates a higher mL per second than the Smith and Nephew Super
TurboVac 90.2
Additionally, the adjustable coagulation settings are
designed to handle bleeders and help keep the field of vision clear.

Remove Bulk Tissue and Sculpt with One Versatile Probe
Many other systems require multiple probes to do what you can do with just
one Edge probe. The versatile design provides bulk volumetric soft tissue
ablation with the face of the electrode or plasma layer as well as fine tune
sculpting work with the edge of the electrode or plasma layer. This provides
a great benefit for knee procedures for fine tune work on the meniscus
without having to change probes.
Longer Lasting Probes
They are comprised of Tungsten material which is known for electrical conductivity,
its resistance to wear and biocompatibility.The single-piece electrode design of
the Edge probes virtually eliminates the possibility of the electrode erosion and
detachment while in use.
Real-Time Intraarticular Joint Temperature Monitoring
All Edge bipolar probes feature real time temperature monitoring that gives
the flexibility to adjust the temperature alert set point or turn off the feature for
cases that do not require temperature monitoring. The 30º probe is the first
small joint specific probe to feature temperature monitoring.

Optimized Power Settings for Optimal Convenience and Simplicity
While other systems use unnecessary 9-level power settings that
require perplexing, complicated charts to determine what settings
and probes are needed for each procedure, the Edge generator
automatically detects the bipolar probe upon insertion and optimizes
the power levels based on electrode size to efficiently and effectively
generate a strong and stable plasma layer. Power settings are displayed
in three simple settings: Low, Medium and High, customized based
on the probe being utilized.
Versatile for Both Monopolar and Bipolar
The Edge System is the only generator in the market to provide a
versatile choice for facilities as it offers both monopolar and bipolar
capabilities in one system.
Simple, Easy-to-Use Design
With an intuitive touch screen interface, three optimized power
settings, three versatile probes and automatic power level adjustment,
the Edge System is designed to increase OR efficiency.This simplicity
makes things easier for surgeons and OR staffers by eliminating
the guesswork and complication of other ablation systems.
Automatic Scope Detection
When the system detects the presence of a very low impedance object
like an arthroscope, the flow of energy is automatically stopped until
the probe is a safe distance from the detected object.This feature is
compliant with the latest IEC 60601 third editions standards.
