Room 301, The National Library Building
T.M. Kalaw Street, Ermita 1000 Manila
Philippines
Dear Ms. Sharon:
I am pleased to invite you and other members of the Philippine Association of
Academic and Research Librarians to attend the 6th OCLC Asia Pacific Regional
Council Conference to be held in Jeju, Republic of Korea on Monday & Tuesday,
October 13-14, 2014. OCLC has held an annual conference in a different country
in Asia since 2009 for the benefit of librarians in Asia and the Pacific region.
As you are aware, OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. is not a
commercial company nor a government agency, but rather, the largest library
membership organization in the world. OCLC provides online library information
services to 72,000 institutions in 172 countries to facilitate education and
research through cooperation of libraries worldwide.
OCLC Asia Pacific Regional Council serves as an incubator for new ideas within
the OCLC cooperative. It is a two-way conduit to allow the broadest, most
inclusive conversation among OCLC staff, members, participants, and interested
parties. It is a forum which allows interested cultural memory institutions to learn
more about OCLC and opportunities for participation in the OCLC cooperative.
It is my sincere hope that you and other members of the Philippine Association of
Academic and Research Librarians will accept this invitation to participate in the
conference. Each participant’s institution usually pays for the travel expense.
Sincerely yours,
Andrew H. Wang eMail: WANGA@OCLC.ORG
