Located in West Africa, La République de Guinée is a French speaking country with an area of
245,860 kilometers (94, 927 sq. miles);
▪ La République de Guinée also known as Guinea Conakry has a tropical monsoon climate;
▪ Rainfall is between April and November; although April is the hottest period of the year while
heavy rainfall occurs during July and August;
▪ Dense mangrove forest, savanna woodland and dense rainforest are some of the features of the

10,628,972 inhabitants, ranking it the 81st most populous country in the world;

▪ In 2014, it is estimated that the total fertility rate of Guinea is estimated at 4.93
children born per woman;

expectancy in La République de Guinée is: Male: 53.7, Female: 56.3 and total life
expectancy is 55.0 ranking it 171st position in the world ranking of life expectancy;
▪ There is high rate of HIV/AIDS in Guinea as an estimated 170,000 children were
infected as at 2004.

culture;

respect can be found in their culture;
▪ Cassava is processed into fufu and consumed in Guinea while other common cuisines

▪ The law prohibits polygamy in La République de Guinée but according to UNICEF reports,
53.4% of Guinean women between ages 15 and 49 are involved in polygamy;
▪ La République de Guinée is a Muslim dominated country with 85% of the population
practicing Islam while 8 percent are Christians. 7 percent on the other hand adhere to
indigenous beliefs.

▪ The President, Alpha Condé, serves as both the head of state and government.;
▪ Guinea has relations with about 30 states and is an active player in the region despite the
numerous challenges it faces
