Fiber-optic is “In”: Old: “T1 in every library” New: “Broadband telecommunications connection in every library” The Internet is moving from pulse-code modulated, multiplexed telecommunications carrier systems (like copper T1 circuits) to f iber-optic communication, which transmits information by sending light through an optical fiber. Fiber-optic communication allows a wide-area network to act like a local-area network. (and is therefore often called “ethernet”)
