MTV was neither founded by Bob Pitman nor Tom Freston and in
fact was in existence for years before either came to work there.
The name of the real founder was an exec at Warner cable by the
name of Nyhl Henson. You can check this with Gus Hauser, the
then CEO of Warner Cable. After Warner merged with Amex to
form WASEC, Jon Lack was brought in by Jack Schneider who in
turned hired Bob Pittman. He, in turn, hired Freston. This took
place in the early 80's, yet MTV was part of the Qube project back
