Popular cultural events include the Naadam festival featuring archery, horse racing, and wrestling. Mongolia has a population of around 3 million people and a largely rural economy based on herding and mining. The capital and largest city is Ulaanbaatar, which is seeking to modernize while preserving Mongolian traditions.
