Otava Folk High School in Oslo provides guidance to students studying online through real-time conversations and presence in different contexts. The school has grown from 13 online students in 1997 to 761 today, with the guidance beginning on the school's website and continuing through online conversations. Effective guidance requires presence in connection with time, the individual student, location, and emotionally connecting with students.
