Military OneSource is a free service provided by the Department of Defense that supports military members
and their families with a broad range of concerns. These concerns can include everyday issues like money
management, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, relocation questions,
deployment, reunion, and the particular concerns of families with special-needs members. They can also
include more complex issues like relationships, stress, and grief. The program can be especially helpful to
service members and their families who live at a distance from installations. Military OneSource is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any location in the world (call 1-800-342-9647 or go to

Eligibility
People eligible for Military OneSource include:
• Active-duty service members in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force and their immediate
family members.
• National Guard and Reserve members and their immediate family members (including members of
the Individual Ready Reserve), regardless of activation status.
• Anyone who has legal responsibility for a service member's children during deployment or separation
from the family.
• Retired and separating service members and their immediate family members for up to six months
following their separation.
Others eligible for Military OneSource include extended family members when they are seeking assistance
on behalf of their service member, and certain qualified DoD civilians. For more information about eligibility,

Call Center and Online Support
2. Our master's-level consultants are available 24/7, by telephone and email, to support service members and
their families with everyday concerns. They provide practical suggestions and support for issues that nearly
everyone faces at one time or another — like locating quality child care, handling a PCS move, or talking
about ways to nurture a relationship with a spouse who is deployed.

Personal Counseling (face-to-face, telephone, online)
For short-term, nonmedical concerns such as handling stress, decision-making, communication, grief,
relationship, blended family, and parenting issues, we provide free personal counseling (up to 12 sessions
per issue in a calendar year) with experienced, licensed counselors.
Users can participate in personal counseling in the forum that is most comfortable and convenient for them:
face-to-face with a counselor in the local community, by telephone, or online. (The online option uses instant
-messaging, allowing for real time communication.)

Military OneSource Financial Services
Military OneSource provides Financial Counseling services and Financial Planning Consultations.
Financial Counseling (in-person or by telephone)
Military OneSource provides short-term, solution-focused Financial Counseling (up to 12 sessions per user)
through our financial service team of Accredited Financial Counselors (AFCs). These expert counselors
provide education, coaching, and referrals to military resources such as JAGS, emergency-aid programs,
and financial readiness programs.
Appropriate areas for financial counseling include:
• Money management and budgeting
• Housing (pre-purchase, foreclosure prevention, reverse mortgages)
• Credit and active-duty alerts
• Debt management and dealing with debt collectors
• Maintaining security clearance
• Deployment- and relocation-related financial issues
• The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
• Payday loans, title loans, and rent-to-own
• Creating a realistic action plan with specific, manageable steps
Financial Counseling is provided by telephone or in person. The in-person counseling, which is available in
most CONUS locations, is offered in partnership with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).
Financial Planning Consultations
Military OneSource also provides specialized Financial Planning Consultations by telephone with Certified
Financial Planners (CFPs) on concerns such as:
• Insurance
• Investment-related tax issues
• Investing basics

Military OneSource Health and Wellness Coaching Program
The Health and Wellness Coaching Program is a free resource for eligible individuals who wish to improve
their health and overall well-being. Partner with a coach and experience a thought-provoking and creative
process that inspires you to make lifestyle changes that maximize your personal and professional potential.
Focus areas for coaching include: weight management, fitness and nutrition, health condition management,
stress management, and life transitions (adapting to lifestyle changes such as deployment, moving,
becoming a new parent, or retirement).
Through any of the three Health and Wellness Coaching Program options – on the phone, online, or self-
directed - Military OneSource can assist you in reaching your goals. Click on Health and Wellness Coaching

Military OneSource Tax Services
Military OneSource offers a Tax Program and Financial Tax Consultations.
Military OneSource is once again offering a free, electronic tax filing service. If you are eligible under the
Military OneSource program, you can complete, save, and file your 2011 federal and up to three state
returns online free with the H&R Block At Home® tool.
To access this free version of H&R Block At Home®, you must start your return from the Military OneSource
H&R Block At Home® link. Once you click the link you will be required to log in to Military OneSource. From
the login page you will be directed to a site containing additional information on tax preparation, including the
link to the Military OneSource free H&R Block At Home® service.
If you have questions about this tax service or about preparing your own tax returns, please call 1-800-342-
9647 and ask to speak with a Military OneSource tax consultant. Trained tax consultants are available 7
days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., EST. For information about deductions, exemptions, and filing
deadlines visit the Military OneSource Tax Program page.
Financial Tax Consultations
Military OneSource also provides specialized telephonic Financial Tax Consultations with Certified Public
Accountants (CPAs) to educate and inform users about federal tax issues. This year-round service is
separate from the Military OneSource Tax Program.

4. Military OneSource Spouse Career Center
Consultants at the Spouse Career Center (SCC) provide education and career services, resources,
guidance, and consultations by telephone to military spouses. The SCC guides spouses through Career
Exploration, Education and Training, Employment Readiness, and Career Connections.

Military OneSource Website and Social Media
The Military OneSource website at www.MilitaryOneSource.mil provides access to our online tools and
information, including articles, audios, and announcements. The site also provides scheduling and
registration information for our live online webinars and moderated chats; online tools such as financial and
health calculators; locators for elder and child care, summer camp, and school; subscription information for
our monthly electronic newsletters, and self-assessments.
We also provide a variety of social media to reach service members and their families and help them
connect with each other. These include online discussion boards, our Facebook page, a Twitter feed, and
our Blog Brigade.

Military OneSource also develops and distributes educational materials that convey expert information about
