Work History: The City of Santa Clarita - GIS Analyst Intern - March 2015 to Present
Education
Project Management
GIS professional with a passion for the Geospatial Field, recently graduated in May 2016, from California State
University, Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Science and over one year of profes-
sional experience in local government served with the City of Santa Clarita as a GIS Analyst Intern.
Bachelor of Arts - Geographic Information Science
August 2012 - May 2016
California State University, Northridge - Northridge CA
- Honor Student of the Epsilon Phi chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon - International Geographical Honor Society
- Active member of the Geography Club
- Senior Thesis on the comparative risk to seismic activity of single family homes in the Santa Clarita Valley
- Data collection using Trimble R1GNSS antennas and
IOS operated collection units
- Geocoding and Georeferencing from various types of
data sources including using open source geocoding
applications
- Creating compatible data that are viewable in multiple
programs and maps that are not printer sensitive
- Data creation in tabular and spatial forms based on
various sources through hand creation and automation
- Using ModelBuilder to create processes that can be
re-run and save time
- Utilizing new and emerging cartographic techniques for
more appealing displays
- Creating various map layouts to meet the needs of
different projects
- Creating dynamic maps that can be used in map services
and display layers and symbology at specified extents
- Leveraging Microsoft Excel capabilities into ArcGIS by
using formulas to create master lists, automated geocod-
ing and large scale queries
- Utilizing strict database management formatting to
easily locate maps and graphics for future reference and
use
- Maintaining my own project request list and coordinating deadlines and meetings with the project requesters while also
managing individual field data collection
- Keep strict deadlines with project requests that could affect public policy, construction timelines, State Senate deadlines and
more. These time frames were crucial to aid hundreds of city employees with the proper tools to perform their decision making
- Some project requests would be brought up and absolutely need same day completion which was always achieved and is how
I received special recognition on the City’s internal webpage for completing a rush order for the Parks Department
- Project lists ranged from one day, to several weeks to even a few months long that involved several departments and close
collaboration in order to accomplish. This also required precise multitasking to manage the deadlines of overlapping projects
and keep consistent track of project requests and statuses

Project Examples
- Using Excel and ArcMap to clean and create a formatted 28 page street index for the Santa Clarita Sheri’s Department
- Using Excel and open source geocoding to accurately and efficiently place over 9,000 code-violations from 2013-2015
(with non-sensitive information) that was inconsistently collected by other departments
- Working with departments to recreate business tax zones to more closely match zoning changes. These Geo-tax areas
were created by using ModelBuilder to select and attribute data from a simple address range sheet
- Creating maps and notices that were displayed to the general public on large signs in project locations
- Creating complete road network centerlines dataset from aerial imagery and parcel information in order to cease the
current data licensing contract with Rand McNally which will save an estimated $3,000 annually
- Utilizing professional contacts I have made to broker exchanges of data between the City of Santa Clarita and private
agencies
