Primary health care unit coordinator

Position Overview: The Ethiopian Millennium Rural initiative program of Clinton health Access
Initiative, is seeking an Ethiopia primary health care unit coordinator, who will be assigned in
health centers located in of SNNPR and will work closely with the health centre staff, Clinical
Mentor, Health Extension Workers and volunteer Community Health workers. S/he will be
responsible for ensuring the overall success of the project at the Primary Health Care Unit level,
especially in the areas of ANC/PMTCT (Prevention of Mother and Child transmission), HIV/AIDS
prevention, testing, care, and treatment; IMNCI; and TB. S/he will ensure the implementation
of the program in accordance to the plan of action.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strengthen the existing referral system between the health center and the health post
• Coordinate, manage, monitor, support and supervise the activities of the Volunteer
Community Health Workers
• Strengthen the implementation of existing Health Systems including HMIS, HCF, SCM,
sample transport system ,BPR and referral systems
• Collaborate with the health center staff to improve the management of the primary
health care unit
• Collaborate with the health center staff to organize community outreach activities
• Design and conduct community mobilization strategies for HIV , ANC/PMTCT, TB, under
5 services
• Participate in primary health care unit team meeting, Health extension workers
meeting and quarterly volunteer community health workers
• Manage the relationship between the health facility & community and coordinate the
linkage between the two parties to best benefit clients
• Provide ongoing support towards ensuring strong linkages between the health center,
health post and community are formed and retained
• Collaborate with health center staff and community health promoters to ensure patient
tracking and proper referral system
• Collaborate with the clinical mentor, health center staff, health extension workers and
volunteer community health workers in the implementation of the program
