 introduction:
Definition that shows that an automated railway crossing is based on operate railway gates.
Which are specifically stands for better handling and security purpose. As we have kept this
project since 3rd
semester we had implemented too many new things for better performance for
ARC.
As in 3rd semester a definition has been fixed i.e. using simple structure how to make secure
crossing gates. With minimal knowledge and lack of concept we had introduce a simple system
for crossing that having laser sensors, ultrasonic sensor, and a DC shunt motor for simple
designing. That whole structure was being control with micro controller and switch
mechanism.
After realizing the remedies of sensor and fault of concept we have implemented a better secure
ARC in 4th semester where we had replaced laser sensor with weight sensor as laser sensor is
low secure and easily decoded by anyone the security being lost by the one single fault.
As we concern our fault and making solution within PLC SCADA we had solve many problems
like wise controlling delay and better operation facility and so on in 5th semester where we
learn programming and basic of PLC SCADA.
Now in this 6th semester we made PLC Circuit board with required circuits and malfunction,
we made whole PLC Program for working of ARC and we have tested this circuit and program
too. We install this program to our PLC DELTA DVP-14SS2. we got great results. As far we
concern and as per our developing speed we will manage to complete our controlling of this
Automaton of railway gate soon.
9
Modeling and Analysis using Software:
WPLsoft 2.38
WPLsoft version 2.38 is basically programming software for Delta PLCs which has elaborated
facility as per required to the programmer, here as we program whole program we have face
some causality for logic control and much more, we need to practice harder for making whole
program through WPLsoft 2.38.
In our project we made programming through ladder diagram which is extra ordinary
feature of WPLsoft where after some logic programming becomes easy to be attempt and can
easily be understood as well. We have rights that received through consumer.

Math work MATLAB R2015a
For simulation toward circuit and testing we arrange MATLAB circuit by using version 2015.
For testing and resulting MATLAB is one of the important software for simulation.
Simulink PLC Coder
Generate IEC 61131-3 Structured Text for PLCs and PACs
InTouch 10.1
This software is basically for SCADA operation only; this software is being learn in process
we do not have much idea about InTouch 10.1 version but we do know how to arrange all the
function in this software.
15
Engineering Economics of design:
Cost Estimation:
(Project)
Material Cost
DVL Delta 8500
Relay 5V X4 272
Relay 24V X3 300
SMPS (jigo) 950
Connectors box 120
PLC Board 100
Wire 300
IR sensor X3 300
Total 10,842
Material Cost in project Cost in real
Poles 50 1000
Gear 0 200
Total 50 1200
Labor, material and overhead cost:
This system only required maintaining like PLC checkup and circuit checking only like
monthly routine or schedule checking that depends upon system priority. For that an engineer
has to be appointed
Time for value:
As we know time is money this project needs only 1-week time if blue print is available. This
project need less labor and less time too for building up. Set up needs 1 day at location and
moreover total time is 8 days.
16
Design for Use, Reuse and Sustainability:
Design for use – how long this system will work?
This system has mainly working on DVL Delta PLC which has life of 25 years perfectly and
it depends on system and atmosphere to increase and decrease of life
Fixing whole circuit so easily that if one component got damage the whole circuit does not
get damage with it. And replacing of that damaged part is also easy.
Maintainability:
This system required maintenance as per routine like monthly and if we put some better
material maintenance.
17
Prototyping:
Versions of prototypes with all possible modification and iterations to
further refine the solutions: -
In ARC project versions there are many modifications and solutions are solved in each semester
working in 4th
, 5th
and in 6th
semester is the final product solution of ARC but steal there is
some hardware software combination problems are occurring because of the small scale
prototype working but it all are solved in real implementation.
In 4th
semester Basically idea is there are two weight sensors helps to make sence for upward
and downward of the crossing poles. At some distance from the crossing place we need to apply
a weight sensing sensor for sence incoming trains, as that sensor sence incoming train it gives
that information to those two DC Shunt motors. Armature of motor rotates in clockwise
direction and this is how crossing poles get closed. After that while train left the crossing,
another weight sensor get sence and again that makes sence to DC Shunt motor, after that motor
reverse its rotations and rotates armature in anti-clockwise direaction, this is how corssing poles
moves upward. So, It’s work on this simple principle or process and We also add some security
feateres & high technology features in it.
For security purpose we have included ultrasonic sensor which situated in between network
of crossing poles to make safer transportation while crossing faces traffic. Another hand there
is CCTV 24*7 observed camera for suggestion for critical situation.
But still operation of ARC is not so accurate in sem 4th
because of the controller limitations.so
that The operation and controlling is implemented in semester 5th
prototype which are
controlled by PLC SCADA controllers.
And final solution and prototype is coming in semester 6th
which is as per using Delta PLC
controller and some other changes related to power supply is mainly top of line solutions in
semester 6th
.
18
Measuring instruments/technique- knowledge and use
manufacturing/fabrication process, electronic circuit,
boar, open source tool.
As we started working onto this project here we got first came to face is circuit board. This
circuit board is basically a plywood base have channels implied on it, these channels are stand
for give mechanical support to wire and for better appearance.
We set supply 230v to 24v SMPS for convert 230volt to 24volt DC, This SMPS has +ve 24
and –ve 24 supply output which has to connect respective reply for giving motors or sensor
supply and also for PLC supply.
We are using PLC of DELTA which name is DVL DELTA DVP14SS2 which need 24 DC
input to run and gives 7 outputs respect to 7 inputs
Snapshot of PLC DELTA DVC14SS2
We have using relays to switch voltage level for respective withstand capacity of overall
sensors and motors. We have using 2 Relay channels.
1) 24v relay board
2) 5v replay board

Comparison of existing materials, methods, tools and
equipment for your project and justify your selection
of materials, methods, tools and equipment etc.
In this project of ARC, now using PLC-SCADA there are huge difference between earlier
thinking and recently applied improvements and implementations because of in the
introduction of this project is that the main programmer or controller circuit is PLC.
so that is totally different and industrial thinking of upgradation of ARC by preferring this
manual and according to this design thinking and making of arc when we compare the project
materials technique or other factors that shows the sequential progress we have seen many
difference that is given below.
Firstly the main thing is about the PLC which is shows the level of the ARC because of the
microcontroller is common thing in small level projects but when we talking about the
industrial use of controller only one thing is coming that is PLC because of the scale, reliability,
and decision making since of PLC is higher because in ARC which is use for security purpose
or it is more difficult when it is center of traffic or biggest ability to change and replicate the
operation or process while collecting and communicating vital information another advantage
of PLC system is that it is modular. That is, you can mix and match the types of input and
output devices to best suit your application. so, it is very big advantage using PLC.
Second one is the supervisory software SCADA (supervisory control and Data Acquisition) it
is the revolutionary change in Railway improvements in India because of the in rail way control
room in India is the very trafficking zone because of the use of old technologies accept for
communication or also accept for the automation purpose thing SCADA is the best supervisory
software which allows the such kind of good reliability time to think some time auto decision
making is very reliable.
Think about the other equipment like sensors, motor in the market they are many sensors are
available for requirement for the ARC Prototype like the Ultrasonic wave sensors, Proxy
sensor, Load cell but including some reason for security purposes we going to use IR sensor
for selecting this the main thing is for IR sensor IR detectors are little microchips with a
photocell that are tuned to listen to infrared light. They are almost always used for remote
control detection - every TV and DVD player has one of these in the front to listen for the IR
signal from the clicker. Inside the remote control is a matching IR LED, which emits IR pulses
to tell the TV to turn on, off or change channels. IR light is not visible to the human eye, which
means it takes a little more work to test a setup.
In other things like motor there is lots of motor is available in the market which gives different
specifications but in arc we use the DC motor because of the necessary is in the prototype is
small scale use (only in PROTOTYPE) so in smaller size it is very essentially good for better
working and reliability of external DC supply.
20
Conclusion:
By performing this project and taking implementation onto this project from 2 years we had reach to
such an extreme stage where we have a better security like controlling through PLC using proximate
accuracy sensor that measure its sensitivity through mm and other sensor like IR sensor. With using
PLC Delta and SCADA.
All that implemented from last 2 years we provide security and better performance as well in minimal
cost.
21
Future scope:
For future scope we will show efforts for power supply with renewable source like solar energy.
With this source we can show efforts for environment and with solar we can use this project in
remote areas where supply could not be possible, this one step is for ecofriendly contribution
for nature.
Moreover, we will use rare PLC which have number of input with number of output i.e. 50000
systems can be handle with single PLC. So costing can be minimal and single operator required.
Also for more mechanical efforts for redial gates situated in single direction we can use
conveyer and gear mechanism that is how single motor operates multiple gates.

For that an engineer has to be appointed Time for value: As we know time is money this project needs only 1-week time if blue print is available. This project need less labor and less time too for building up. Set up needs 1 day at location and moreover total time is 8 days.
  • 16. 16 Design for Use, Reuse and Sustainability: Design for use – how long this system will work? This system has mainly working on DVL Delta PLC which has life of 25 years perfectly and it depends on system and atmosphere to increase and decrease of life Fixing whole circuit so easily that if one component got damage the whole circuit does not get damage with it. And replacing of that damaged part is also easy. Maintainability: This system required maintenance as per routine like monthly and if we put some better material maintenance.
  • 17. 17 Prototyping: Versions of prototypes with all possible modification and iterations to further refine the solutions: - In ARC project versions there are many modifications and solutions are solved in each semester working in 4th , 5th and in 6th semester is the final product solution of ARC but steal there is some hardware software combination problems are occurring because of the small scale prototype working but it all are solved in real implementation. In 4th semester Basically idea is there are two weight sensors helps to make sence for upward and downward of the crossing poles. At some distance from the crossing place we need to apply a weight sensing sensor for sence incoming trains, as that sensor sence incoming train it gives that information to those two DC Shunt motors. Armature of motor rotates in clockwise direction and this is how crossing poles get closed. After that while train left the crossing, another weight sensor get sence and again that makes sence to DC Shunt motor, after that motor reverse its rotations and rotates armature in anti-clockwise direaction, this is how corssing poles moves upward. So, It’s work on this simple principle or process and We also add some security feateres & high technology features in it. For security purpose we have included ultrasonic sensor which situated in between network of crossing poles to make safer transportation while crossing faces traffic. Another hand there is CCTV 24*7 observed camera for suggestion for critical situation. But still operation of ARC is not so accurate in sem 4th because of the controller limitations.so that The operation and controlling is implemented in semester 5th prototype which are controlled by PLC SCADA controllers. And final solution and prototype is coming in semester 6th which is as per using Delta PLC controller and some other changes related to power supply is mainly top of line solutions in semester 6th .

As we started working onto this project here we got first came to face is circuit board. This circuit board is basically a plywood base have channels implied on it, these channels are stand for give mechanical support to wire and for better appearance. We set supply 230v to 24v SMPS for convert 230volt to 24volt DC, This SMPS has +ve 24 and –ve 24 supply output which has to connect respective reply for giving motors or sensor supply and also for PLC supply. We are using PLC of DELTA which name is DVL DELTA DVP14SS2 which need 24 DC input to run and gives 7 outputs respect to 7 inputs Snapshot of PLC DELTA DVC14SS2 We have using relays to switch voltage level for respective withstand capacity of overall sensors and motors. We have using 2 Relay channels. 1) 24v relay board 2) 5v replay board
  • 19. 19 Comparison of existing materials, methods, tools and equipment for your project and justify your selection of materials, methods, tools and equipment etc. In this project of ARC, now using PLC-SCADA there are huge difference between earlier thinking and recently applied improvements and implementations because of in the introduction of this project is that the main programmer or controller circuit is PLC. so that is totally different and industrial thinking of upgradation of ARC by preferring this manual and according to this design thinking and making of arc when we compare the project materials technique or other factors that shows the sequential progress we have seen many difference that is given below. Firstly the main thing is about the PLC which is shows the level of the ARC because of the microcontroller is common thing in small level projects but when we talking about the industrial use of controller only one thing is coming that is PLC because of the scale, reliability, and decision making since of PLC is higher because in ARC which is use for security purpose or it is more difficult when it is center of traffic or biggest ability to change and replicate the operation or process while collecting and communicating vital information another advantage of PLC system is that it is modular. That is, you can mix and match the types of input and output devices to best suit your application. so, it is very big advantage using PLC. Second one is the supervisory software SCADA (supervisory control and Data Acquisition) it is the revolutionary change in Railway improvements in India because of the in rail way control room in India is the very trafficking zone because of the use of old technologies accept for communication or also accept for the automation purpose thing SCADA is the best supervisory software which allows the such kind of good reliability time to think some time auto decision making is very reliable. Think about the other equipment like sensors, motor in the market they are many sensors are available for requirement for the ARC Prototype like the Ultrasonic wave sensors, Proxy sensor, Load cell but including some reason for security purposes we going to use IR sensor for selecting this the main thing is for IR sensor IR detectors are little microchips with a photocell that are tuned to listen to infrared light. They are almost always used for remote control detection - every TV and DVD player has one of these in the front to listen for the IR signal from the clicker. Inside the remote control is a matching IR LED, which emits IR pulses to tell the TV to turn on, off or change channels. IR light is not visible to the human eye, which means it takes a little more work to test a setup. In other things like motor there is lots of motor is available in the market which gives different specifications but in arc we use the DC motor because of the necessary is in the prototype is small scale use (only in PROTOTYPE) so in smaller size it is very essentially good for better working and reliability of external DC supply.
  • 20. 20 Conclusion: By performing this project and taking implementation onto this project from 2 years we had reach to such an extreme stage where we have a better security like controlling through PLC using proximate accuracy sensor that measure its sensitivity through mm and other sensor like IR sensor. With using PLC Delta and SCADA. All that implemented from last 2 years we provide security and better performance as well in minimal cost.
  • 21. 21 Future scope: For future scope we will show efforts for power supply with renewable source like solar energy. With this source we can show efforts for environment and with solar we can use this project in remote areas where supply could not be possible, this one step is for ecofriendly contribution for nature. Moreover, we will use rare PLC which have number of input with number of output i.e. 50000 systems can be handle with single PLC. So costing can be minimal and single operator required. Also for more mechanical efforts for redial gates situated in single direction we can use conveyer and gear mechanism that is how single motor operates multiple gates.
