Textiles - Summer Tasks 2012

1. Buy something inexpensive as a symbol of your need to create,
   draw the object everyday of the holiday.
2. Learn a simple book binding technique. Make yourself a small
   sketchbook.
3. Use this sketch book to document, using multiple processes, a
   different surface each day of the holiday.
4. Teach yourself to Knit or Crochet, document.
5. Re-propose an existing object. Document its transition from one
   use to another.
6. Write a list of 100 processes that you could use to manipulate
   materials. Do 10 of them, documenting the processes.
7. Experiment with altering surface qualities. e.g. Make something
   shiny, matte or something waterproof, absorbent.
8. Create an ‘unwearable’ sculpture, using an item of clothing.
   Document.
9. Using just a pad of post it notes and a pen, create a temporary
   installation. Document.
10.Visit at least 2 exhibitions;
      • The Tanks – Tate Modern
      • Doris Salcedo – White Cube, Masons Yard
      • The London Open – Whitechapel Gallery
