The Worshipful Company of Barbers’ Science and Medicine in Action Lecture Series (5-6pm)
These lectures are designed to increase your awareness and knowledge of different specialist areas of medicine. Each lecture is followed by a
question and answer session, giving you the opportunity to engage with experts from King’s College London, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital
Trust. The lecture theatres hold just over 300 people, so please book early to secure a place.

Group Mentoring Scheme (5-6pm)
These sessions help you with different aspects of the medical school application process. The interactive elements of each session are facilitated
by current EMDP students. Except for the introductory session, all Group Mentoring workshops are limited to 50 students per session. Some
sessions will run more than once in order to allow more students to sign up to them. For sessions which are running more than once, please
indicate which date is preferable for you to attend. Students who are successfully allocated places to capped events will receive a numbered ticket
by email, which must be printed and shown on entry to the event. Places will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis.

2. Journal Club (5-6pm)
These sessions focus on enabling you to enhance your critical analysis skills. Each month, participating students will be emailed a topical
publication from within the field of medicine and healthcare. At each session, students will then debate issues arising from the article along with
King’s College staff and current EMDP students. Places will be limited to 100 students each session, and will be offered on a first-come first-
served basis, so please book early to secure your place.

Med-View (all day, 2-4 April 2012)
Med-View is an intensive 3-day non-residential medical taster course available for Year 12 and Access course students only. Students taking part
in Med-View will be sent on 2 ward/GP placements, and will complete a number of interactive sessions including anatomy and clinical skills.
Med-View is limited to 30 students only, and anyone who wishes to be considered for a place at Med-View must apply. Application forms for Med-
View will be sent out in January 2012, not before.
