1. Year 12 Subject Masterclasses
The University of Cambridge are pleased to offer, for the second year running, a series of Masterclasses for
Year 12 students. The aim of these subject-specific classes is to give students a true flavour of
undergraduate study. The classes will take place on selected Saturdays from February to July 2012.
What will the event involve?
The masterclasses aim to provide an opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what is covered within the A
Level syllabus and to offer the chance to experience typical first-year undergraduate teaching at Cambridge.
Each 4 and a half hour Masterclass will include:
Two taster lectures delivered by leading academic members of staff from the University
The opportunity to discuss and ask questions
An introduction to the admissions process, by an Admissions Tutor
The opportunity to hear about life as a Cambridge student, from a current undergraduate

Who is the event aimed at?
The events are aimed at academically able students in Year 12 who are would are interested in studying one of
these subjects at university. There are no additional application criteria.
How do I apply and is there a charge?
There is a charge of £10.00 per class. Bring your own lunch or purchase a lunch ticket at booking (£5) and lunch
will be provided on the day. Booking can be made online via the website address below.
Note: There are a limited number of free places for students in receipt of Discretionary Learner Support, Looked-after
Children, and those from families in receipt of Income Support). Please contact Helen Dingwall at the email address below to
