3.  The Inca Empire was an empire in what is now
Peru. Over that period, the Inca conquered other
tribes to create a large empire in the west of
South America, along the Andes.
 The Inca empire proved short-lived. In 1533, the
last emperor, was killed by a conquistador.
 He used the capture of the Inca Empire to gain
gold as a ransom.
 A conquistador is a person who serves the
Spanish Empire

5.  Paddington bear came from Peru
 He appeared on the 13th October 1958
 Paddington Bear is a fictional character in
children's books
 His stories are written by Michael Bond
 He was originally drawn by Peggy Fortnum
 Paddington’s career took off in 2008 as he
was featured in many children's books

6.  Mara was born in Trujillo in Peru but now lives in
Lima, Peru
 She was Miss World in 2004
 During the Miss World competition Mara focused on
donating to charities across the world
 She was elected athlete of the year in 2001
 Mara has also been a popular TV show hostess, a
model and is also studying to be a high
school teacher.

 Its aims are to provide financial and material support
and it encourages voluntary effort
 The Project was founded in 1992
 The focus of the Project in Peru is at Zapallal, near
Lima

 Machu Picchu is Peru’s most visited tourist attraction
 Most of the buildings have been reconstructed to
give tourists a better idea of what they originally
