Lightning Dangers and Facts
• Lightning is the most dangerous and frequently
encountered weather hazard people experience each
year and is the number one cause of storm related
  death
• It is estimated that there are approximately 100,000
thunderstorms in the US alone each year
• Americans are twice as likely to die from lightning
than from hurricanes, tornadoes or floods
• F.E.M.A. (The Federal Emergency Management
Agency) estimates that there are 200 deaths and 750
severe injuries from lightning each year

                                                     24
Lightning Dangers and Facts
• Most lightning strikes occur either at the beginning
or at the end of a storm
• The average lightning strike extends out 6 to 10 miles
long but can travel as far as 120 miles
• Lightning reaches 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit which is
4 times as hot as the sun’s surface
• Voltage in a ground to cloud strike reach from 100
  million to 1 billion volts
• 70% of all lightning fatalities and injuries occur in the
  afternoon

                                                         25
Lightning Dangers and Facts
• In the last 50 years, the National Weather Service and
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
has reported that lightning has struck and killed over
  3,700 individuals

Note: Whenever there is a threat of lightning or
severe weather, avoid wide open areas, trees,
electronic devices and water and seek shelter
in the lowest level of a sturdy and stable
facility with a properly installed lightning
protection system that meets U.S. Safety
  Standards UL and NFPA
                                                           26

The Difference is ProActive
• All of our products and services are intuitive by design
     – There are other systems on the market that use after-the-fact and
         belated information
     – We use real-time DATA and programmed logic that provides tools
         to help prevent disaster
• All of our hardware instruments are required to be on-site
     – Other service providers use and depend on off-site instruments
         and third parties
• We are as redundant as feasibly possible with DATA processed and
    delivered onsite and offsite
     – Redundant service runs locally and offsite in secure Data Center,
24/7, with uninterruptable power supply and generator
     – Our Software service is developed, monitored and supported in-
         house
     – All events are logged and backed-up offsite
     – Our systems are automated with manual over-rides because
artificial intelligence does not replace common sense
     – We manage all preventative maintenance and redundancy is our
         priority
                                                                           31
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to
help you create a safer place to live!
• While we pledge to make every effort to provide the highest quality
products and services available in the industry and to eliminate as many
points of failure as possible, the fact remains that there are certain
elements and variables that are beyond our control and hence the end
user indemnifies and holds Proactive Information Management, LLC
harmless of any liability while using these products and services.
• All Services are annual renewable for a minimum term of 60 months
from initial installation date and all services other than *CameraGrid
include up to 100 Users/$5 per year for each additional User/Hardware
not included/Additional Upgrades and Custom Systems Integration
available upon request. *CameraGrid user availability pending
  bandwidth.
• End user is solely responsible for providing static IP Address with
Remote Desktop or WebEx Access to On-site ProActive Server and for
assuring constant 24/7 internet access for communication and Remote
  Management.
• All Software Upgrades and Updates included with Service.
                                                                    32

  • 25. Lightning Dangers and Facts • Lightning is the most dangerous and frequently encountered weather hazard people experience each year and is the number one cause of storm related death • It is estimated that there are approximately 100,000 thunderstorms in the US alone each year • Americans are twice as likely to die from lightning than from hurricanes, tornadoes or floods • F.E.M.A. (The Federal Emergency Management Agency) estimates that there are 200 deaths and 750 severe injuries from lightning each year 24
  • 26. Lightning Dangers and Facts • Most lightning strikes occur either at the beginning or at the end of a storm • The average lightning strike extends out 6 to 10 miles long but can travel as far as 120 miles • Lightning reaches 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit which is 4 times as hot as the sun’s surface • Voltage in a ground to cloud strike reach from 100 million to 1 billion volts • 70% of all lightning fatalities and injuries occur in the afternoon 25
  • 27. Lightning Dangers and Facts • In the last 50 years, the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has reported that lightning has struck and killed over 3,700 individuals Note: Whenever there is a threat of lightning or severe weather, avoid wide open areas, trees, electronic devices and water and seek shelter in the lowest level of a sturdy and stable facility with a properly installed lightning protection system that meets U.S. Safety Standards UL and NFPA 26

  • 32. The Difference is ProActive • All of our products and services are intuitive by design – There are other systems on the market that use after-the-fact and belated information – We use real-time DATA and programmed logic that provides tools to help prevent disaster • All of our hardware instruments are required to be on-site – Other service providers use and depend on off-site instruments and third parties • We are as redundant as feasibly possible with DATA processed and delivered onsite and offsite – Redundant service runs locally and offsite in secure Data Center, 24/7, with uninterruptable power supply and generator – Our Software service is developed, monitored and supported in- house – All events are logged and backed-up offsite – Our systems are automated with manual over-rides because artificial intelligence does not replace common sense – We manage all preventative maintenance and redundancy is our priority 31
