  2. Overview: Cisco’s BioMed NAC solution automates device assignments to controlled zones on the hospital network (wired or wireless connectivity) providing patient-centric benefits. Continue to monitor the behavior of these devices – quarantine a device if not behaving properly. Scenario : Couple arrives at hospital with husband complaining of breathing problems. They meet with physician who decides the patient needs a ventilator. ( CLICK ) CLICK Doctor seeks a ventilator to assist in breathing but only one available in occupied room but its not being used. Doctor wishes to move patient into unused room and move ventilator to patient. Prior to BioMed NAC there could be a delay in provisioning the ports in the new room to accept the device. CLICK In this case with BioMed NAC, patient doctor and ventilator are all able to move to unused room and the doctor is able to call up the patients EMR with wireless device. CLICK Since this hospital has the BioMed NAC solution implement, the in-room ports self-provision to accept the device and are interchangeable. If a guest needs to access the network for guest services and does not have wireless access, the ports in the room can self-provision for their laptop access also. Benefits: Leverages existing hospital infrastructure Reduces overall operating expense (traditionally, commissioning in-room ports to accept different devices took time and labor.) Improves the quality of patient care (more timely delivery of care giving.)
  3. State of Missouri – This case Study focuses on the benefits of the State wide integration project of 1,000 facilities. The largest integration project of its kind involves creating 24/7 real-time connectivity to the multiple legacy control systems, power generation assets, power distribution systems, metering, chiller and steam plants that keep 28 million square feet of facilities safe, productive and comfortable for the citizens and employees of the State. Asset/Maintenance Management (projected 40% savings) Real-time integration of all facilities with Asset Management Automated Work Orders State wide Alarm management Pfizer - Building Systems Integration helped the Sandwich Pfizer Campus safe more than 15% annually on maintenance cost and 5% in energy savings. Pfizer connected 70 buildings or 4M SF of R&D and manufacturing space over one converged IP network. With this, the equalized the controls of more than 70,000 automation points and with this reduced complexity of operations, provided consistency of data formats, and now is able to operate its campus with a centralized control system. Pfizer continues to see the benefits as they build new buildings and renovate old facilities and are now able to plug and play non-proprietary automation systems into the converged network.
  4. Overview : Cisco Mobile Care Nurse Connect facilitates collaboration among mobile caregivers and patients, enabling them to reach each other and to be reached no matter where they are — for faster patient care from any location. Scenario: The patient presses a Nurse Connect Button from their bedside. A notification is automatically sent directly to the caregiver assigned to that patient or room on their Cisco IP Phone; a text message appears on their phone stating that the Nurse Connect Button has been activated; for example “ Nurse Call Room 302” At that point the nurse is given options (1) Acknowledge the message; (2) Escalate the message if they are unable to respond to it; (3) Call the Patient; or (4) Allow message to roll-over to next nurse. CLICK If they hit Acknowledge on the phone they can also choose to call Room 302 and speak with the patient to see what they need. Or they can just walk to the patient’s room if they are nearby. If they choose the alternate, to Escalate the message, it is then sent to the next caregiver or caregivers determined by settings in the system. The message will continue to be sent until the Nurse Connect button is reset.
