B
I am delighted to welcome you all to São Paulo where we are
very happy to be hosting the launch of the Brazil International
Renewable Energy Congress- BIREC.
As Latin America’s largest economy goes through a macroeconomic
paradigm shift, a vast array of new opportunities are appearing in the
region’s biggest renewable energy market. Brazil is now recovering from
an economic downturn and investment in wind and solar energy is only
expected to continue to grow significantly in the coming years.
The aim of BIREC is to bring the country’s entire renewable energy value chain together under one
roof in order to tackle challenges and promote investment in Brazil.
Following 6 months of extensive research, over 100 interviews with senior level decision makers and
guidance from our carefully selected advisory board of industry experts, we have built this game
changing agenda.
Our aim is to provide you with informative cutting-edge sessions as well as the opportunity to
broaden your network, enabling you to make valuable new connections and improve your
business strategy across the region.
The program is designed around you and your needs so you only need to focus on the experiences
BIREC has to offer, with no sales pitches or prolonged presentations. I am certain you will benefit
enormously from our quality driven approach.
Please take the time to review the detailed agenda and all the networking opportunities available,
including VIP dinners, an onsite dedicated meeting zone and an online networking tool.
I very much look forward to welcoming you personally in São Paulo this November!
All the best,
Isabella Lewis

Assessing and identifying the best practices for
developing a rooftop solar project
Brazil’s roof top solar PV sector continues to present vast commercial
opportunities. Increasingly businesses and building owners view roof top
PV as a cost effective long-term energy solution. Roof top solar allows
commercial off-takers and solar solution providers to capitalise on Brazil’s
great solar resources and the country’s net-metering-system provides off-
takers with the opportunity to hedge against periods of low solar radiation.
This workshop identifies the different considerations it is necessary to take
into account when developing a rooftop solar project and offers solutions at
every stage of the project lifecycle.
•	Determine what different factors to consider when developing rooftop solar projects,
such as differing environmental and financial regulations
•	Learn the best ways to find contacts and reliable and experienced partners
•	Understand how to form and maintain a good relationship with equipment suppliers
in order to ensure a high quality of product and service
•	Technical know-how – understand how the financial and construction demands for
rooftop projects differ from those of utility scale projects

Vital Lessons for Solar Installations
Brazil’s solar market is experiencing a boom in C&I and residential solar projects
whilst at the same time utility scale solar is laying its first bricks. The vast arrays of
solar projects which are being developed in Brazil make it imperative that solar
developers and installers understand and respond to differing environmental
and legislative needs.
This workshop identifies and provides solutions to the challenges of constructing
both distributed generation and utility scale grid-connected solar installations.
•	Assess the requirements for system documentation, commissioning tests and inspection
•	Review required PV system quality verifications
•	Evaluate the typical mistakes made related to maintenance and modernisation and
learn how to avoid them
•	Analyse and learn where to apply building-integrated photovoltaics
•	Explore what influence the development of building integrated PV systems will have
on Brazil’s solar space
•	Understand principles of proper placement of wiring in PV systems, in order to ensure
that your systems are best connected

Hydropower is the greatest source of electric power in Brazil. However, some
hydropower developments have been criticised for failing to uphold standards of
environmental and social sustainability. Poorly managed hydropower plants have
been known to have a damaging impact on the land lining the rivers on which
they are developed. Droughts and flooding, exacerbated by some hydropower
plants, have been known to damage habitats of indigenous plants and animals,
as well as displacing peoples living in those areas. This workshop will provide the
necessary tools and knowledge necessary to ensure that your developments
adhere to environmentally green standards while maximising return on

NEW OPPORTUNITIES EXPANDING RELATIONSHIPS SHAPING THE INDUSTRY
Since 2009 investment in wind and solar in Brazil has been rapidly increasing. Brazil now occupies 8th place in the list of top countries globally investing in
renewables and last year the country saw US$ 7.1 billion invested in clean energy. This scale of investment and Brazil’s enormous wind and solar capacity
potential combine to create vast opportunities. Brazil’s government and leadership framework is changing, business-friendly policies are being enacted and
investor confidence is growing.
Why not take advantage of the opportunity to position your company in front of Brazil’s most senior decision makers at BIREC this year?

Increasingly businesses and building owners view roof top PV as a cost effective long-term energy solution. Roof top solar allows commercial off-takers and solar solution providers to capitalise on Brazil’s great solar resources and the country’s net-metering-system provides off- takers with the opportunity to hedge against periods of low solar radiation. This workshop identifies the different considerations it is necessary to take into account when developing a rooftop solar project and offers solutions at every stage of the project lifecycle. • Determine what different factors to consider when developing rooftop solar projects, such as differing environmental and financial regulations • Learn the best ways to find contacts and reliable and experienced partners • Understand how to form and maintain a good relationship with equipment suppliers in order to ensure a high quality of product and service • Technical know-how – understand how the financial and construction demands for rooftop projects differ from those of utility scale projects SOLAR WORKSHOPS Designed to provide solar developers, EPCs and engineers with comprehensive knowledge and extensive skill sets to ensure that your projects incorporate the best and make optimum use of solar technology, attend this in-depth workshop day to gain premier insight into the latest solar power technologies. 09:00 Registration, Networking Coffee and Pre-Scheduled Meetings MORNING WORKSHOP: 09:30 - 13:00 Morning Agenda 09:30 WORKSHOP AND TRAINING PART ONE 10:30 GUEST SPEAKER 11:00 NETWORKING COFFEE 11:30 WORKSHOP AND TRAINING PART TWO Vital Lessons for Solar Installations Brazil’s solar market is experiencing a boom in C&I and residential solar projects whilst at the same time utility scale solar is laying its first bricks. The vast arrays of solar projects which are being developed in Brazil make it imperative that solar developers and installers understand and respond to differing environmental and legislative needs. This workshop identifies and provides solutions to the challenges of constructing both distributed generation and utility scale grid-connected solar installations. • Assess the requirements for system documentation, commissioning tests and inspection • Review required PV system quality verifications • Evaluate the typical mistakes made related to maintenance and modernisation and learn how to avoid them • Analyse and learn where to apply building-integrated photovoltaics • Explore what influence the development of building integrated PV systems will have on Brazil’s solar space • Understand principles of proper placement of wiring in PV systems, in order to ensure that your systems are best connected • Examine how feasible advances in solar applications are in the Brazilian landscape, such as Solar Roadways and Floating Roadways 13:00 Extended Networking Lunch and Pre-Scheduled Meetings

However, some hydropower developments have been criticised for failing to uphold standards of environmental and social sustainability. Poorly managed hydropower plants have been known to have a damaging impact on the land lining the rivers on which they are developed. Droughts and flooding, exacerbated by some hydropower plants, have been known to damage habitats of indigenous plants and animals, as well as displacing peoples living in those areas. This workshop will provide the necessary tools and knowledge necessary to ensure that your developments adhere to environmentally green standards while maximising return on investment. 13:00 Extended Networking Lunch and Pre-Scheduled Meetings Enhance your exposure - position yourself as a thought leader and sponsor a workshop FOR SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES CONTACT: ALEX WILLIAMSON ON: +44 203 355 4209 OR: ALEX.WILLIAMSON@GREENPOWERGLOBAL.COM
