12. CLOUD COMPUTING: MAKING IT REAL
NCS Customer Challenge (Without
Private Cloud Infrastructure)
• Charging internal user on the hardware resources used.
• It is difficult to charge users based on the hardware resources usage as it is
not possible to “divide/split” the resources (e.g. Disk Storage, RAM)
•Typical internal users (BUs) reaction on charge back
• “We do not required such a high-end servers, thus, we do not agree
to pay for the cost of the servers”
• “We don’t own the servers, and we are going to release the servers
back to IT after the development, why do we need to pay for the full
cost of the server?”
• Slow deployment (From their internal user feedback)
• After their users requested for the infrastructure resources, they have to wait
for the IT department to setup the systems for them, which can be from days
to weeks.
Slide 12
13. CLOUD COMPUTING: MAKING IT REAL
How Private Cloud Infrastructure
overcomes NCS Customer Challenge?
• Charging internal user on the hardware resources used.
• With the Private Cloud Charge Back and Metering feature - The internal
users (BUs) are charged based on the resources used, which is a small portion
of the hardware cost. This is more acceptable and reasonable for the internal
user (BUs)
• Slow deployment (From the internal user feedback)
• With Self provisioning through Self Service Portal - After the users
requested for the infrastructure resources, they are able to deploy the VMs
themselves without having to wait for the IT department to setup the systems
for them.
• Subsequently, they can manage their own resources with having IT
intervention.
