11. Subject Pretenders Sometimes the subject of a sentence is hard to identify because of a subject pretender. One type of subject pretender is a prepositional phrase, which begins with a preposition.

17. Prepositional Phrases A prepositional phrase consists of a preposition and its object. The object is a noun or a pronoun, together with any words that describe or refer to the object.
