It is a tradition
consisting of take a
short rest in the
early afternoon just
after having lunch in
order to be ready to
go on to work in the
afternoon and
evening.
4. BULLFIGHTING
• The course itself takes place in
an arena crowded with people.
• This is a spectacle in which
bullfighter, assisted by
banderilleros and mounted
picadors, baits and usually kills
a bull in an arena

for us?
• Bullfighting traces back to
the XVIIIth century.
• it roots to bull worship and
sacrifice.
• When the Romans settled
down in Hipania they took
the human-versus-animals
events.
7. • Although the bull is killed most of the times, there are also
fatal accidents involving bullfigters’ lives .
8. • Although this tradition is considered to be an artistic
spectacle, there are also many Spaniards who are against it.
As a result, bullfighting has been prohibited in some
Autonomous Communities.
• Anyway, bulls are an important part of our past and present
and they are very important for our cultural heritage.
14. WHAT IS IT SO IMPORTANT FOR
US?• The making and drinking
of cider is traditional in
several parts of northern
Spain. In fact Asturians
are the most drinkers of
cider in the country . We
drink it not only in
traditional festivals but
also in special bars called
“sidrerías”

There is a proverb which says :
“ASTURIAS MEANS SPAIN AND THE
OTHER REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY
ARE LANDS WHICH HAD TO BE
RECONQUERED ” – This refers to the
Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula
when our land was the only one the Muslims
could not conquer.
