what stuff in England. William the Conquerer
used this book to see who owed him money in
taxes and no one could dispute it. The book
“brought doom and gloom” to the people of
the land.
It contained records of 13,418 settlements in
England.
6. William I used the book to gain even more
control over the people of England.
The book is one of the first “public records”
with detailed surveying of land and accurate
lists of resources in the land, such as
population, woodland, meadow, and arable
land.
7. The Book was written in Latin, and was
undisputable and could not be reversed.
Anything that was written in the book was
instantly part of the undeniable law.
It has also been called “The Book of Judgment”
because anything it said about the land, was
unalterable.
