YMP?
A group of well motivated, committed volunteers
from various different companies
The Young Member’s Panel offers all Aberdeen &
Surrounding area students, Trainees and developing
engineers:
• An opportunity to build a network within the Aberdeen area
with both peers and senior engineers
• A mixture of technical, social and skills based events
• Career advice and support
• A link to the IMechE regional manager and HQ

5. Roles and responsibilities
• Chairman- conduct the meetings; represent the committee at
the Committee of Regional Chairmen and the Institution’s
Council; formulate yearly business plan with the committee;
lead and provide the direction for the committee; delegate the
work
• Secretary- organise monthly meetings and AGM; focal point for
outgoing correspondence; maintain list of contacts; take
minutes of meetings; Produce the Annual Report on the
committee's activities
• Treasurer- to manage the accounts and keep track of
expenditure and revenue; annual financial report;
• Publicity Officer- communication to members, email, facebook,
LinkedIn; creation of posters; media communication
• Web Master- look after the website; adding newsletters and
minutes produced

(next slide) and required commitment
• What are your interested in?
• You don’t have to sit on the panel to have a
significant input
Once you have decided, speak to us, find out more
if needed and put your name forward!

• Fill in the application form (you can nominate yourself
or alternatively nominate somebody). Attendance to
the AGM in not essential.
