19. Using Edmodo in class…
Earth Science: students will complete a
collaborative web quest.
20. The Task…
• Students work in groups
• Research earthquakes
• “Inform” town residents about earthquakes and how
to stay safe.

24. Use Edmodo to Collaborate…
• Create different groups on Edmodo and
students in small groups can collaborate and
share resources.
25. Students teach each other
Students research the questions
They share information and resources on Edmodo
Rehearse = “teaching” other members.
28. Content Standards
Plate Tectonics and Earth's Structure: Plate tectonics explains important
features of the Earth's surface and major geologic events.
earthquakes are sudden motions along breaks in the crust called faults, and
volcanoes/fissures are locations where magma reaches the surface.
major geologic events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain
building result from plate motions.
Students know that the effects of an earthquake on any region
vary, depending on the size of the earthquake, the distance of the region from
the epicenter, the local geology, and the type of construction in the region.
29. ISTE Standards For Students
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and
develop innovative products and processes using technology.
Students use digital media and environments to communicate and
work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual
learning and contribute to the learning of others.
Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use
information.
Students identify and define authentic problems and significant
questions for investigation.
Students exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology that
supports collaboration, learning, and productivity.
30. ISTE Standards for Teachers
engage students in exploring real-world issues and
solving authentic problems using digital tools and
resources
Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences
and Assessments
collaborate with students, …using digital tools and
resources to support student success and innovation.
…facilitate experiences that advance student
learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face
and virtual environments.
