1. NOC / Operations Manager
Our client is a leading Cloud Storage business creating bleeding edge technology for a dynamic and fast
moving market. Based in London, they are growing quickly both in terms of bringing in large numbers of
new customers every month and providing new features to the products.
They are now looking for a NOC/Operations manager to join the team and continue to improve the new
application server platform utilizing the already highly scalable application running in the data-centers. You
will work directly for the COO with the operations team reporting to you. You will closely collaborate with
both QA and Development to ensure new releases are easy to deploy, monitor and able to scale-on-demand.
You will also setup controls to detect report and repair issues for all systems within the data-center.
You will have the opportunity to build a cloud platform at large scale where good coding practices are an
essential survival skill. The team has experience in several areas and there are lots of opportunities to learn
new skills.
Responsibilities include:
Reviewing the current operations and planning how to make the NOC a top-flight organization.
Having a near fanatical view to automating processes – for example, the release deployment process
across our multiple platforms and services to remove the human element or the automatic diagnostic
research of issues to reduce the manual effort involved in resolving issues.
Build-up a data-center to allow for both easy growth and for resilience to problems; includes the setup of
new lights-out remote-managed data-centers in locations closer to our customers.
Maintain the office environment so the teams can effectively work including disaster recovery planning.
Working with 3rd party vendors and suppliers to reduce costs, reduce time to delivery and improve
service.
Lead the NOC team by example, ensuring the ideal level of processes is maintained for brutal efficiency.
Constantly reviewing the state of service to customers and investigating ways to improve the end-user
experience.
Communicating quickly & concisely on projects and issues to the stakeholders.

2. Ideal Candidate:
You will have experience in the following areas:
Multi-year experience leading a top-flight data-center network and operations group for a cloud-based
or SaaS product line.
Solid experience with all aspects of system, network and data-center management including the desire
to get hands-on and lead by example.
Strong knowledge of security for all aspects of the architecture.
Ability to work with and manage 3rd party vendors & suppliers according to strict SLAs.
Have direct experience setting up new remote datacenters utilizing for remote hands/eyes support.
Ability to lead a team of diverse ops and Dev/Ops backgrounds including running of pro-active projects,
responding quickly to issues.
Experience setting objectives & KPIs and managing to them.
Strong, concise communication style in both written and verbal.
Awareness and close attention to customer experience.
Work with and develop KPIs for operational success.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work accordingly.
Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
