INTRODUCTION
Are you tired of browsing backlink sites list given by other people? Are you tired of
waiting once a month to receive your list of 30, 40 50 ore more sites that you can use to
build backlinks to your sites. Are you using the same list that THOUSANDS of other
internet marketers are using? If you are, have you found that by the time you get to the
sites, they’ve shut down the ability to create accounts there, or that you receive angry
flames from the webmaster or community members just simply for creating an account?
If you have had any of these experiences, perhaps it’s about time you learned how to find
them yourself.
What Is A Footprint?
A footprint is the “track” left on the internet that can be used to locate specific pages on the
internet or find specific types of “scripts” that you can submit to.
If you’re involved in internet marketing or Search Engine Optimization, this is important.
One of the best ways to grab a mountain of backlinks to your sites is to identify a particular type
of site, or script that runs specific sites, (a platform), and ways to find lots more sites just like
them. What’s even better when searching for footprints is that you can add your keywords to it as
well.
You identify these sites by their ‘footprints’ which are the tracks they leave. When we know what
the footprint looks like, we can run queries on Google and other search engines, which allows us
to identify in what parts of the page, or site, the footprint is located, and find lots of these sites.
This topic may be a little difficult to understand, INITIALLY, but is really easy when you have a
few examples, which I’m going to provide you in just a moment.
SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
Process Steps
Here are the steps you’d follow if you want to do the whole thing. However we’re only
going to address the first 6 steps here:
4) Run queries against as many Search Engines as possible to find your sites
5) Harvest your urls
6) If PR is important to you, run your harvested links against a Bulk Page Rank
Page 10 of 176
1) Identify Promising Platforms
2) Identify Footprints
3) Test your Footprints
a) Check to make sure your queries return desired results
b) Check the platform for IP Diversity

Checker
7) Generate a script to create backlinks on all of your sites
8) Ping all of your accounts/posts to get them indexed
9) Keep a record of your submission and indexing activities
Additional Tips:
• Link to a deep page instead of to your Home/Main page
• Do not vary the Anchor Text when going after a specific keyword
• IP Diversity is a good thing… even at the expense of Page Rank. Which means
that links from many IP addresses is a good thing, even if they don’t have great
page rank.
The list of ‘Footprints”, Search Query Tips and Resources in this book will help make you a
Master Internet Searcher and increase your knowledge tremendously. You’ll be able to quickly
locate what your competition is doing and have Master Marketers mentoring you for free.
You’ll be able to dominate your competition with ease because you’ll have an unlimited source of
HighPR backlinks at your disposal.

How to Find Back Links From .info with Footprinted Software with a Signature Link
Using (-site:.com) excludes .com sites
linkdomain:.info “For customer support, visit http://www.dada.net” +site:.info -site:.com
So, those are just a couple of searches that can be used to locate and track footprints. You can use
a variety of combinations and keywords to location various sites that have scripts that allow you
to get backlinks. You even drill down into your competition’s sites to see what they are using to
get links.

SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
All of the above searches return hundreds of links, but what are you looking for. You’re looking
for links that lead you to sites where you can leave your own link. And remember, you can make
your searches as broad or as narrow as you need in order to get the information you need.
Once you find these links, you can check out the Page Rank, the IP Address to determine ‘IP
Diversity’, and if you want, you can check out the WhoIs information to determine the owner,
etc.
Know the Platforms
Review the Table of Contents. I’ve provided you with a starting point for search for a
variety of Categories of sites and variety of Platforms within those Categories where you
can get backlinks.
What Are You ACTUALLY Looking For?
Once you know these then finding the sites is peace of cake.

Basic Query
The easiest and most basic search you can use when looking for the various “Platforms”
is the “Powered By” query.
You simply take the phrase “powered by” and the entire platform name or the first part,
(e.g., “powered by [platform]”, “powered by phpbb”)
Examples:
"Powered by vbulletin"
"Powered by phpbb"
"Powered by pligg"
The reason we do this is because most of the platforms you’re looking for, by default,
have these signatures/footprints in their products. Sometimes it’s in the ‘footer’/bottom
SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
of the page and occasionally in the ‘header’/top of the page. I’ve even seen them not
visible on the page but commented out in the HTML source code inside the page.
This method can also be used to find all types of platforms, (e.g., social bookmarking
sites, forums, social networking sites, video sharing sites and more.).
Also remember IP Diversity when you begin your search for these platforms. This is
critical for Google rankings. Contrary to popular opinion, Page Rank is not necessarily
always more important than IP Diversity.
You can also identify a unique piece of a url in each platform, for example:
In Pligg, there is a function for searching stories, the Pligg platform uses the following
url:
Therefore you can use one of the Query Operators, (inurl:), that you will learn later, to locate urls
that contain this piece of url within it:
http://pliggsite.com/shakeit.php
Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master
http://socialbuzzmaster.com
inurl:/shakeit.php
Query Operators can be combined with other Query Operator, Search Terms, or
Keywords, to produce even more specific results.
For instance the Pligg Platform uses a url that contains “register.php” as part of the url for
the signup / account creation page. However many other platforms also use
“register.php” for the same process. So just because you find a page that contains
“register.php” in the url does not necessarily mean that it is the ‘Pligg Platform”.
Another interesting aspect of Google search operators like
SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
If you just want to collect the sites just do it, check the PR later with one of the Bulk Page
Rank tools in the Resources Section in the back.
Now I said the platforms by default have those signatures, but what if the social
bookmark sites' owners decided to remove them?
They will actually, most of the sites that you can find using the above method would be
sites with lower PR, most is 3 or even 4.
This is how you find sites from "more serious" owners and the chance to get higher PR
social bookmark sites,
inurl:register.php is that you can add a niche or keyword after the
term e.g. inurl:register.php weight loss

While Google provides a useful advanced search form, you can also run more specific searches
from Fagan Finder, a site that has no official relationship with Google (Figure 2-6). It works best
from Internet Explorer (www.faganfinder.com/google.html), but an alternate version that works

SEARCH QUERIES USED TO FIND TARGETED LISTS
Find lists or publish your own lists of top sites. Using the footprints you find here you
can easily publish your own link bait list of top <You Name The Platform> sites and
drive traffic to your site quickly and easily.
Everybody loves a freebie and everybody loves High Page Rank Backlinks. Here are a
few phrases you can use to find existing lists.
Another way to find lists is to locate sites that review lists of the type of platforms you
are looking for. All of the above searches can be used with or without the intitle to give
even more results.

SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
You can easily replicate these queries to fit your needs, and it is highly scalable. You can
find .edu, .gov, and if you are lucky, .mil blogs. If you are not as picky, you can just
search specifically for the blogs without the .edu or .gov extension, and you can find
some high pageranked blogs on the first pages of results. Play around with it, enjoy it, it’s
free! Then of course you know how to drop a link on the comments.
Most of these will not be “do follow” links, but just the fact that you can get .gov and
.edu links is very important. Government links are just about the most trusted websites on
the internet. You can't just oneday decide to register a .gov or .edu site, and go out and
register one without having a ‘trusted organization’ first. So since there aren’t many of
us that own our own university, this is the next best thing.
Heres a few examples.
Google query: site:.gov blog [or site:.edu blog]
Results in: Google finds any .gov website that is running a blog or has a /blog/ directory.
You can then visit these blogs and post comments (if you can find wordpress blogs like
this one), and get hundreds of free .gov backlinks.
[Alternative queries: ‘blog’ ‘blogs’ ‘wordpress’ ‘comment’ ‘guestbook’ ‘2007' ‘2006']
Google query: site:.edu *your niche* + blog
For example: site:.edu internet marketing blog
The top result is a .edu blog that links to a non edu blog, but that blog is related and is
PR3 and has edu backlinks. That is also a great relevant place to comment, even if it is
not directly a .edu. On the other hand, the third result was a PR3 highly related .edu
internet marketing blog with zero comments. That is easy .edu backlinks!

with good PR heres a couple below. I won’t go into detail on how to add your link as I’m

However there is one thing about the links… use your “Anchor” Text as your name
which will become the “Anchor” Text for your url.

Social Network Platforms Footprints
According to Wikipedia, a social network service focuses on building online
communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in
exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are web
based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as e-mail and instant
messaging services.
Social networking has encouraged new ways to communicate and share information.
Social networking websites are being used regularly by millions of people.
While it could be said that email and websites have most of the essential elements of
social network services, proprietary encapsulated services gained popularity in the first
decade of the 21st century.
The main types of social networking services are those which contain category divisions
(such as former school-year or classmates), means to connect with friends (usually with
self-description pages) and a recommendation system linked to trust. Popular methods
now combine many of these, with Facebook widely used worldwide; MySpace, Twitter
and LinkedIn being the most widely used in North America;[1] Nexopia (mostly in
Canada);[2] Bebo,[3] Hi5, StudiVZ (mostly in Germany), iWiW (mostly in Hungary),
Tuenti (mostly in Spain), Decayenne, Tagged, XING;[4], Badoo[5] and Skyrock in parts
of Europe;[6] Orkut and Hi5 in South America and Central America;[7] and Friendster,
Mixi, Multiply, Orkut, Wretch, Xiaonei and Cyworld in Asia and the Pacific Islands and
Areapal in India.

much on the same IP address, but don’t let that stop you from building backlinks here
either.

Elgg Social Networking Websites
Now I’m aware blackhats are actively exploiting the Elgg platform mainly due to one
reason, everything is pretty much do follow. I’ll be straight forward and mention, as I
always do, that I do not condone spamming but adding relevant comments or content to
the social platform. If you do a Google search for powered by Elgg you will find well
over 50,000 sites that are powered by the social networking sofware.
About
Elgg is an open, flexible social networking engine, designed to run at the heart of any
socially-aware application. Building on Elgg is easy, and because the engine handles
common web application and social functionality for you, you can concentrate on
developing your idea.
Elgg is open source. That means, when you use Elgg, you have the benefit of being part
of a large developer community, with the security and stability that hundreds of eyes can
provide. It’s also headed and used by Curverider and its partners, so you can be assured
that it’s in commercial use and will cope with the demands of a popular application. read

It runs on Apache, PHP and MySQL - the same open source platform that the majority of
web applications are written in. Elgg is compatible with enterprise technologies like the
Zend Platform and any server environment that can run the Apache web server.
We believe in an open, distributed, social web. As a result, Elgg supports technologies
like OpenDD, OpenID and OpenSocial, and we are directly involved in community
efforts to push the envelope when it comes to data portability, federation and the user
experience. Elgg is a great way to future-proof your social applications.
Elgg was founded by Ben Werdmuller and David Tosh, and has been powering networks
since 2004.
There are all sorts of new open source CMS’s coming on the market, and a handful of
them are starting to get a large user base. There are CMS’s for DIGG clones, forums,
social networking sites, social bookmarking, web 2.0 and new blogging platforms. These
are perfect times to grab some new business and get a chance to work with a different
platform. Because there are so many the possibilities are endless, and would be a great
way to expand your design firm to the next level. Lets take a look at 6 CMS’s that are
growing rapidly and are desperately in the need of both free and premium themes.
Elgg is quite possibly the most popular open source social networking platform at the
moment. The software its self is brilliant and there is no secret as to why it’s so popular.
There are plenty of opportunities for theme design with Elgg both on the forums, gaining
top rankings and freelance sites. The one thing I did notice about Elgg, which is also what
made me write this post, is that there is a serious lacking in the theme department. You
can advertise your free themes within the community, on various Elgg theme sites and try
and rank for some quality keywords.

Laconica
An Open Source Microblogging Tool.
A Twitter Clone
Laconica is an open source microblogging tool written in PHP. All data is stored in a
MySQL database. Laconica was created as a direct response of a need to create an open
source, distributed alternative to Twitter. It is used by the identi.ca microblogging
service, which is based closely on Twitter's service. Laconica supports OpenID for logins
and is designed to apply a Creative Commons license to all the traffic that it carries. It's
also built to support the OpenMicroBlogging protocol so it can address scalability issues
by federating together multiple autonomous servers. The underpinnings of Laconica
include PHP, PEAR, and XMPP. The source can be checked using Darcs. An unofficial
Google Code mirror also exists, which can be accessed using Subversion.

b2evolution
b2evolution is a multi-lingual, multi-user, multi-blog publishing system written in PHP
and backed by a MySQL database. It is distributed under the GNU General Public
License and is available without charge. François Planque forked b2evolution from
version 0.6.1 of b2/cafelog in 2003.[1] Another popular fork of b2 is WordPress.
SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
b2evolution is focused on ease of installation and feature richness. It can easily be
installed on almost any LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) host in a matter of
minutes. With the latest release, no configuration file editing is necessary, as all
configuration is handled through the installer or administrative back-end.
One of the main differentiating features of b2evolution is its ability to manage multiple
blogs under a single installation.
Features in current releases include: community-wide spam filters, in which many
b2evolution sites aggregate and "tag" spammer IPs into a central blacklist for the benefit
of all b2evolution blogs; a fully skinnable interface; localization into a dozen language
packs; and a fully exposed API for plugin developers to add new functionality.
Several popular plugins have been developed for b2evolution. These include text format
extensions enabling Textile, Auto-P, Greymatter, BB code, Texturize, LaTeX, and
graphic smilies. Also, plugins which facilitates full integration with third party tools such
as Gallery 2, YouTube and digg are available.
Many b2evolution-powered websites dofollow comment URLs. This snippet below will
search for specific snippets of text in the comments section of b2evolution websites:

mentioned Pligg software and in my opinion looks and works like it will be the true
champion of Digg clones soon enough. Now is a great time to build some links and buzz
by creating great templates for this rapidly evolving CMS. Right now there are a few sites
where you can submit your template as well hit up the template section on the user

Blog Footprints
According to Wikipedia, a blog (a contraction of the term "weblog")[1] is a type of
website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary,
descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly
displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to
maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more
personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs,
Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments
in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily
textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches
(sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro-blogging is
another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.

SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
Top Comments Blog Footprints
Top Comments is a simple, easy to setup and manage comments rating plugin. It adds the
current score and the voting button at the end of each comment. Also displays the score
in the comments RSS feed and in the admin area.
The plugin uses AJAX to process the votes and has several methods to prevent cheating
(multiple consecutive votes). It also can display the top rated comments in the sidebar by
using template tag or widget.
CommentLuv Blog Footprints
Comments are a wonderful thing to receive on your blog, with CommentLuv for
Wordpress and Wordpress MU you can give something back to your community straight
away by including a titled link for their last blog post or tweet on the end of their
comment.
The plugin fetches the feed found at commenters site URL while they type their comment
and extracts the last blog post title with link and displays it below the comment form.
When they submit their comment, the last blog post link gets added on the end of their
comment for all to see!
As a member of The ComLuv Network, you can register your site url and receive 10x the
luv when you comment on enabled blogs and if you start a blog here, you can even add
your twitter and digg accounts to your returned posts (or add more blogs, up to 5)

SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
KeywordLuv Blog Footprints.
How the KeywordLuv plug-in Helps You Get Targeted One-Way Backlinks.
The Wordpress KeywordLuv plug-in helps you reward your visitors who comment on
your blog…. by separating their name from their keywords.
For example, if you go to a blog which uses the KeywordLuv plug-in and comment on
that blog, you simply enter
Riggie@Internet Business in the name field instead of just Riggie, for example. The
symbol @ does the trick here.
Keyword(s) “Enable CommentLuv”
No Follow Free Blog:
keyword “Comments links could be nofollow free”
The title of a comment in the blog would now look like :
Riggie from Internet Business says :
Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master
http://socialbuzzmaster.com
instead of :
Riggie says :
This allows you to get a targeted link for the term "internet business".
As you can see, this plug-in allows a visitor to enter his name and his targeted keyword
link back to his site. It's a win-win for the blog owner and the visitor.

MediaWiki
MediaWiki is a free software wiki package written in PHP, originally for use on
Wikipedia. It is now used by several other projects of the non-profit Wikimedia
Foundation and by many other wikis, including http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki,
the home of MediaWiki.

SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
Getting backlinks from forums is often thought of as spam. Neverthelelss, forums are a
very valuable tool for backlink developers, as long as you use good methods. Member
‘Signatures’ in forums are a fair place to promote your site. Forum members can see
your link and click on it if they are interested.
In order to get your signature seen by members though, you have to make a post or a
comment. This increases the risk of your account getting deleted. Sometimes
webmasters would delete your account because they think your signature is not consistent
with the theme of the site or is ‘spammy’.
A safer way to use forums to get backlinks is to find those that have links in profiles that
are publicly viewable. Publicly viewable profiles get indexed by the search engines and
fly under the radar of the forum. I'm not advocating flying under the radar entirely. But
you can gain a good link until you have time to lurk around the site and make a good
post.
Forums often receive a tremendous amount of traffic, and they often have great authority
with the search engines. How many times have you searched for something online and
discovered that a lot of the top links were to forums?
Some forums use the tag “rel=nofollow” on their links, especially the link in signatures
and posts.
This tag tells search engines not to follow those links, rendering them useless from a
purely SEO standpoint.

FORUM & COMMUNITY FOOTPRINTS

http://socialbuzzmaster.com
SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy
Of course, those links are still extremely useful if the forum gets a significant amount of
traffic. People will see your posts and visit your links, so they are still important.
Still, if your main purpose is to get backlinks, you need to check the links on each forum
to make sure the links do not have the “rel=nofollow” tag on them.
Rules regarding signatures and links in posts vary widely from forum to forum, so it’s
important to check every forum carefully.
A forum signature is a small section of text (and sometimes images) that you can set to
appear at the end of every post you make. Some forums allow links in signatures, and
some don’t. Others allow certain types of links, but not others.
I find that most crochet patterns work perfectly well as they are presented, but
occasionally I have to modify them to get them to work. So if the one you’re using isn’t
working, you might try making a few minor changes to it and see if it works.
The section of text after the horizontal line is the signature section, and the rest of the text
would be the actual forum post.
In your signature, you should link to your site, making sure to follow the rules regarding
signatures. Don’t call attention to your signature in any way, because this is a good way
to get banned. Even if you don’t get banned, you could end up alienating people who
begin to see you as an opportunistic spammer instead of a potentially trusted authority.
You also need to check the forum rules carefully.
A signature might look like this:

  • 10. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Page 9 of 176 Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com INTRODUCTION Are you tired of browsing backlink sites list given by other people? Are you tired of waiting once a month to receive your list of 30, 40 50 ore more sites that you can use to build backlinks to your sites. Are you using the same list that THOUSANDS of other internet marketers are using? If you are, have you found that by the time you get to the sites, they’ve shut down the ability to create accounts there, or that you receive angry flames from the webmaster or community members just simply for creating an account? If you have had any of these experiences, perhaps it’s about time you learned how to find them yourself. What Is A Footprint? A footprint is the “track” left on the internet that can be used to locate specific pages on the internet or find specific types of “scripts” that you can submit to. If you’re involved in internet marketing or Search Engine Optimization, this is important. One of the best ways to grab a mountain of backlinks to your sites is to identify a particular type of site, or script that runs specific sites, (a platform), and ways to find lots more sites just like them. What’s even better when searching for footprints is that you can add your keywords to it as well. You identify these sites by their ‘footprints’ which are the tracks they leave. When we know what the footprint looks like, we can run queries on Google and other search engines, which allows us to identify in what parts of the page, or site, the footprint is located, and find lots of these sites. This topic may be a little difficult to understand, INITIALLY, but is really easy when you have a few examples, which I’m going to provide you in just a moment.
  • 11. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Process Steps Here are the steps you’d follow if you want to do the whole thing. However we’re only going to address the first 6 steps here: 4) Run queries against as many Search Engines as possible to find your sites 5) Harvest your urls 6) If PR is important to you, run your harvested links against a Bulk Page Rank Page 10 of 176 1) Identify Promising Platforms 2) Identify Footprints 3) Test your Footprints a) Check to make sure your queries return desired results b) Check the platform for IP Diversity Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com Checker 7) Generate a script to create backlinks on all of your sites 8) Ping all of your accounts/posts to get them indexed 9) Keep a record of your submission and indexing activities Additional Tips: • Link to a deep page instead of to your Home/Main page • Do not vary the Anchor Text when going after a specific keyword • IP Diversity is a good thing… even at the expense of Page Rank. Which means that links from many IP addresses is a good thing, even if they don’t have great page rank. The list of ‘Footprints”, Search Query Tips and Resources in this book will help make you a Master Internet Searcher and increase your knowledge tremendously. You’ll be able to quickly locate what your competition is doing and have Master Marketers mentoring you for free. You’ll be able to dominate your competition with ease because you’ll have an unlimited source of HighPR backlinks at your disposal.

You can use a variety of combinations and keywords to location various sites that have scripts that allow you to get backlinks. You even drill down into your competition’s sites to see what they are using to get links. Page 11 of 176 How Can You Find Footprints? • 13. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy All of the above searches return hundreds of links, but what are you looking for. You’re looking for links that lead you to sites where you can leave your own link. And remember, you can make your searches as broad or as narrow as you need in order to get the information you need. Once you find these links, you can check out the Page Rank, the IP Address to determine ‘IP Diversity’, and if you want, you can check out the WhoIs information to determine the owner, etc. Know the Platforms Review the Table of Contents. I’ve provided you with a starting point for search for a variety of Categories of sites and variety of Platforms within those Categories where you can get backlinks. Page 12 of 176 What Are You ACTUALLY Looking For? Once you know these then finding the sites is peace of cake. Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com Basic Query The easiest and most basic search you can use when looking for the various “Platforms” is the “Powered By” query. You simply take the phrase “powered by” and the entire platform name or the first part, (e.g., “powered by [platform]”, “powered by phpbb”) Examples: "Powered by vbulletin" "Powered by phpbb" "Powered by pligg" The reason we do this is because most of the platforms you’re looking for, by default, have these signatures/footprints in their products. Sometimes it’s in the ‘footer’/bottom
  • 14. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy of the page and occasionally in the ‘header’/top of the page. I’ve even seen them not visible on the page but commented out in the HTML source code inside the page. This method can also be used to find all types of platforms, (e.g., social bookmarking sites, forums, social networking sites, video sharing sites and more.). Also remember IP Diversity when you begin your search for these platforms. This is critical for Google rankings. Contrary to popular opinion, Page Rank is not necessarily always more important than IP Diversity. You can also identify a unique piece of a url in each platform, for example: In Pligg, there is a function for searching stories, the Pligg platform uses the following url: Therefore you can use one of the Query Operators, (inurl:), that you will learn later, to locate urls that contain this piece of url within it: Page 13 of 176 http://pliggsite.com/shakeit.php Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com inurl:/shakeit.php Query Operators can be combined with other Query Operator, Search Terms, or Keywords, to produce even more specific results. For instance the Pligg Platform uses a url that contains “register.php” as part of the url for the signup / account creation page. However many other platforms also use “register.php” for the same process. So just because you find a page that contains “register.php” in the url does not necessarily mean that it is the ‘Pligg Platform”. Another interesting aspect of Google search operators like
  • 15. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy If you just want to collect the sites just do it, check the PR later with one of the Bulk Page Rank tools in the Resources Section in the back. Now I said the platforms by default have those signatures, but what if the social bookmark sites' owners decided to remove them? They will actually, most of the sites that you can find using the above method would be sites with lower PR, most is 3 or even 4. This is how you find sites from "more serious" owners and the chance to get higher PR social bookmark sites, Page 14 of 176 inurl:register.php is that you can add a niche or keyword after the term e.g. inurl:register.php weight loss Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com

  • 27. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy You can easily replicate these queries to fit your needs, and it is highly scalable. You can find .edu, .gov, and if you are lucky, .mil blogs. If you are not as picky, you can just search specifically for the blogs without the .edu or .gov extension, and you can find some high pageranked blogs on the first pages of results. Play around with it, enjoy it, it’s free! Then of course you know how to drop a link on the comments. Most of these will not be “do follow” links, but just the fact that you can get .gov and .edu links is very important. Government links are just about the most trusted websites on the internet. You can't just oneday decide to register a .gov or .edu site, and go out and register one without having a ‘trusted organization’ first. So since there aren’t many of us that own our own university, this is the next best thing. Heres a few examples. Google query: site:.gov blog [or site:.edu blog] Results in: Google finds any .gov website that is running a blog or has a /blog/ directory. You can then visit these blogs and post comments (if you can find wordpress blogs like this one), and get hundreds of free .gov backlinks. [Alternative queries: ‘blog’ ‘blogs’ ‘wordpress’ ‘comment’ ‘guestbook’ ‘2007' ‘2006'] Google query: site:.edu *your niche* + blog For example: site:.edu internet marketing blog The top result is a .edu blog that links to a non edu blog, but that blog is related and is PR3 and has edu backlinks. That is also a great relevant place to comment, even if it is not directly a .edu. On the other hand, the third result was a PR3 highly related .edu internet marketing blog with zero comments. That is easy .edu backlinks! Page 26 of 176 EDU AND GOVERNMENT SITE FOOTPRINTS Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com

  • 40. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Social Network Platforms Footprints According to Wikipedia, a social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as e-mail and instant messaging services. Social networking has encouraged new ways to communicate and share information. Social networking websites are being used regularly by millions of people. While it could be said that email and websites have most of the essential elements of social network services, proprietary encapsulated services gained popularity in the first decade of the 21st century. The main types of social networking services are those which contain category divisions (such as former school-year or classmates), means to connect with friends (usually with self-description pages) and a recommendation system linked to trust. Popular methods now combine many of these, with Facebook widely used worldwide; MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn being the most widely used in North America;[1] Nexopia (mostly in Canada);[2] Bebo,[3] Hi5, StudiVZ (mostly in Germany), iWiW (mostly in Hungary), Tuenti (mostly in Spain), Decayenne, Tagged, XING;[4], Badoo[5] and Skyrock in parts of Europe;[6] Orkut and Hi5 in South America and Central America;[7] and Friendster, Mixi, Multiply, Orkut, Wretch, Xiaonei and Cyworld in Asia and the Pacific Islands and Areapal in India. Elgg is compatible with enterprise technologies like the Zend Platform and any server environment that can run the Apache web server. We believe in an open, distributed, social web. As a result, Elgg supports technologies like OpenDD, OpenID and OpenSocial, and we are directly involved in community efforts to push the envelope when it comes to data portability, federation and the user experience. Elgg is a great way to future-proof your social applications. Elgg was founded by Ben Werdmuller and David Tosh, and has been powering networks since 2004. There are all sorts of new open source CMS’s coming on the market, and a handful of them are starting to get a large user base. There are CMS’s for DIGG clones, forums, social networking sites, social bookmarking, web 2.0 and new blogging platforms. These are perfect times to grab some new business and get a chance to work with a different platform. Because there are so many the possibilities are endless, and would be a great way to expand your design firm to the next level. Lets take a look at 6 CMS’s that are growing rapidly and are desperately in the need of both free and premium themes. Elgg is quite possibly the most popular open source social networking platform at the moment. The software its self is brilliant and there is no secret as to why it’s so popular. There are plenty of opportunities for theme design with Elgg both on the forums, gaining top rankings and freelance sites. The one thing I did notice about Elgg, which is also what made me write this post, is that there is a serious lacking in the theme department. You can advertise your free themes within the community, on various Elgg theme sites and try and rank for some quality keywords. Laconica supports OpenID for logins and is designed to apply a Creative Commons license to all the traffic that it carries. Features in current releases include: community-wide spam filters, in which many b2evolution sites aggregate and "tag" spammer IPs into a central blacklist for the benefit of all b2evolution blogs; a fully skinnable interface; localization into a dozen language packs; and a fully exposed API for plugin developers to add new functionality. Several popular plugins have been developed for b2evolution. These include text format extensions enabling Textile, Auto-P, Greymatter, BB code, Texturize, LaTeX, and graphic smilies. • 59. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Blog Footprints According to Wikipedia, a blog (a contraction of the term "weblog")[1] is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts. Page 61 of 176 Keyword(s) “Enable CommentLuv” No Follow Free Blog: keyword “Comments links could be nofollow free” The title of a comment in the blog would now look like : Riggie from Internet Business says : Copyright © 2009 Greg White, Social Buzz Master http://socialbuzzmaster.com instead of : Riggie says : This allows you to get a targeted link for the term "internet business". As you can see, this plug-in allows a visitor to enter his name and his targeted keyword link back to his site. It's a win-win for the blog owner and the visitor.

  • 66. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Getting backlinks from forums is often thought of as spam. Neverthelelss, forums are a very valuable tool for backlink developers, as long as you use good methods. Member ‘Signatures’ in forums are a fair place to promote your site. Forum members can see your link and click on it if they are interested. In order to get your signature seen by members though, you have to make a post or a comment. This increases the risk of your account getting deleted. Sometimes webmasters would delete your account because they think your signature is not consistent with the theme of the site or is ‘spammy’. A safer way to use forums to get backlinks is to find those that have links in profiles that are publicly viewable. Publicly viewable profiles get indexed by the search engines and fly under the radar of the forum. I'm not advocating flying under the radar entirely. But you can gain a good link until you have time to lurk around the site and make a good post. Forums often receive a tremendous amount of traffic, and they often have great authority with the search engines. How many times have you searched for something online and discovered that a lot of the top links were to forums? Some forums use the tag “rel=nofollow” on their links, especially the link in signatures and posts. This tag tells search engines not to follow those links, rendering them useless from a purely SEO standpoint. • 67. SEO Footprints – Backlinks Made Easy Of course, those links are still extremely useful if the forum gets a significant amount of traffic. People will see your posts and visit your links, so they are still important. Still, if your main purpose is to get backlinks, you need to check the links on each forum to make sure the links do not have the “rel=nofollow” tag on them. Rules regarding signatures and links in posts vary widely from forum to forum, so it’s important to check every forum carefully. A forum signature is a small section of text (and sometimes images) that you can set to appear at the end of every post you make. Some forums allow links in signatures, and some don’t. Others allow certain types of links, but not others. I find that most crochet patterns work perfectly well as they are presented, but occasionally I have to modify them to get them to work. So if the one you’re using isn’t working, you might try making a few minor changes to it and see if it works. The section of text after the horizontal line is the signature section, and the rest of the text would be the actual forum post. In your signature, you should link to your site, making sure to follow the rules regarding signatures. Don’t call attention to your signature in any way, because this is a good way to get banned. Even if you don’t get banned, you could end up alienating people who begin to see you as an opportunistic spammer instead of a potentially trusted authority. Page 66 of 176 You also need to check the forum rules carefully.
