Dear Hiring Manager:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Marissa Hartley. As a Senior Water
Resources Engineer with the Solano County Water Agency, I have worked with Marissa Hartley for the
last two years and I have been incredibly impressed with her technical skills, ability to work under
pressure, on multiple tasks, and with very little oversight. Marissa was first hired as a seasonal intern in
the summer of 2013 for our Lake Berryessa Outreach Program. At the end of the internship, after seeing
Marissa’s strong leadership skills, positive attitude and desire to learn more, I allowed her to continue
on as a water quality intern under my supervision. Since then, she has worked under several of our staff
members, completing a wide array of field and office work.
Marissa has proven to be a valuable asset in the field, quickly picking up technical skills and operating
field equipment will very little instruction. Marissa has used flow monitoring equipment such as
Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) and Velocimeters to measure flow rates in canals and natural
streams. She also has extensive knowledge of in‐situ water quality sensors and multi‐parameter sondes
including fluorimeters, conductivity, turbidity, pH and UVA sensors. Marissa has also setup and
maintained both automated sampling units as well as long term in‐situ stations. Additionally, Marissa
was a major contributor to a recent water quality presentation I gave at the 2014 Bay‐Delta Science
Conference. Marissa helped oversee and manage the data quality, calibration, and continuous
maintenance of the in‐situ water quality station used in the presentation. Marissa also assisted in
developing detailed plots, regressions, and analysis as part of the presentation.
Besides Marissa’s field work and water quality skills, Marissa is utilized throughout the office for her
proficiency with Excel. Marissa has been directly responsible for creating the Excel data management
procedures for the entire Lake Berryessa Outreach Program in 2014 and 2015. Furthermore, Marissa
took the lead in 2014 in converting the survey portion of the Outreach Program from paper surveys to
electronic surveys done on tablets (I‐Pads). The 2014 program was widely successful, with over 5,000
surveys done using the new tablets.
Marissa’s charisma and passion for her job is truly commendable, and she has become a cherished
member of our team. I am extremely confident that she will excel within your organization. If you have
any questions about Marissa’s abilities please feel free to contact me at (707) 455‐1106 or at

Sincerely,
Alexander A. Rabidoux, PE
