2. Background
He was born on November 13 ,1953 in
Tabasco Mexico.
López Obrador was president of the PRI in his
home state He resigned his post working for
the government of this state in 1988 to join the
new dissenting left wing of the PRI, then
called the Democratic Current, led
by Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas . This movement
formed the National Democratic Front and
later became the PRD.

Because he never back down and he still
fights for the mexican presidence. He

They call him “EL PEJE” because there is a
tradicional fish were his was born that is
called PEJELAGARTO.
6. Early in his political career
Andrés Manuel colaborated in the PRI
campaign for being senator of Tabasco.
In early 1983 he was elected chairman of
the state executive committee of the PRI,
a position he resigned in November of the
same year.
7. Transition to the PRD
After losing against Salvador Neme
Castillo, he became president of the
newly created PRD in 1989 and then
published his first book, “Tabasco, victim
of fraud.”
8. Race for governor and
President
On April 17, 1996, he won the national
presidency of the PRD against Heberto and
Amalia Garcia.
Lopez Obrador won the election for the
election of mayor of the Federal District with
about 80% of the vote, and was recognized
by the PRD and its candidate.
López Obrador made it to the electoral race
alone, against the ex-president Felipe
Calderón.
9. Recent Events About Him
He have never reached to be president.
The licensed Lopez Obrador appeared
one morning in the emergency room of
the South Medical Hospital, at
approximately 2:30 am on 03/12/2013,
suffering a heart attack but he was
successfully operated.
10. Conclusion:
It is still don´t know if he will try again to
win the presidental charge. People say he
is now too old to be president but many
other people have faith in him and his
words. He has done many good things for
Mexico, but many people think he is not
apt to govern Mexico.
