2. The Steps of Salvation
We often talk about the steps in the plan
of salvation.
Faith in Jesus as the Son of God
Repentance of sins
Confession of our faith
Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
We preach sermons on faith, repentance,
confession and baptism
3. The BIGGEST Step
Often the preacher will toss in
another one – remain faithful
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!!
What does it mean to remain
faithful?
What does that require of me?
4. Remain / Abide
1 John 2:24-25 24 Therefore let
that abide in you which you heard
from the beginning. If what you
heard from the beginning abides in
you, you also will abide in the Son
and in the Father. 25 And this is
the promise that He has promised
us--eternal life.
5. Remain / Abide
Thayer – in reference to place,
tarry, not to depart, to continue to
be present; to be kept continually
In reference to time, to continue to
be, not to perish, to last, endure
6. Keep the Faith
2 Timothy 4:7-8 7 I have fought
the good fight, I have finished the
race, I have kept the faith. 8
Finally, there is laid up for me the
crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous Judge, will give
to me on that Day, and not to me
only but also to all who have loved
His appearing.
7. Keep the Faith
We must hold fast, keep, watch
We must not escape
A prisoner must be “kept” in jail
We must be “kept” in Christ
8. Keep the Faith
1 Timothy 5:22b keep yourself
pure
1 Timothy 6:14 that you keep this
commandment without spot,
blameless until our Lord Jesus
Christ's appearing,
9. Faithful
Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of
Jesus Christ by the will of God, To
the saints who are in Ephesus,
and faithful in Christ Jesus:
Colossians 1:2a To the saints
and faithful brethren in Christ who
are in Colosse:
10. Faithful
Thayer – trusty, faithful, of
persons who show themselves
faithful in the transaction of
business, the execution of
commands, or the discharge of
official duties; one that can be
relied on
12. Faithful
Revelation 17:14 These will make
war with the Lamb, and the Lamb
will overcome them, for He is Lord
of lords and King of kings; and
those who are with Him are called,
chosen, and faithful."
13. Application to Life
Is this “faithful?”
Paper delivered once in a while?
Make house payment 3 times a
year?
Pray every once in a while?
Worship 4 times a year?
