We must be active in the army of God. We must be good soldiers.

1. Good Soldiers

1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace
that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you
have heard from me among many witnesses,
commit these to faithful men who will be able to
teach others also. 3 You therefore must endure
hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4
No one engaged in warfare entangles himself
with the affairs of this life, that he may please
him who enlisted him as a soldier.

3. In the right army

There is one body – Ephesians 4:4

That body is the church – Ephesians 1:22-23

There is ONLY one – 1 Corinthians 12:20

The church is the Lord's army on earth

4. Right Uniform

Galatians 3:26-27 26 For you are all
sons of God through faith in Christ
Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were
baptized into Christ have put on
Christ.

5. Right Uniform

Ephesians 6:10-13 10 Finally, my brethren, be
strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to stand against the wiles of
the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness
in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up
the whole armor of God, that you may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done
all, to stand.

6. Right Uniform

Ephesians 6:14-18 14 Stand therefore, having girded
your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of
righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the
preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all,
taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always
with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being
watchful to this end with all perseverance and
supplication for all the saints--

7. Obey the Commander

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to
them, saying, "All authority has been given to
Me in heaven and on earth.

Luke 6:46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,'
and do not do the things which I say?

Hebrews 2:10 For it was fitting for Him, for
whom are all things and by whom are all things,
in bringing many sons to glory, to make the
captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.

8. Obey the Commander

Hebrews 5:8-9 8 though He was a
Son, yet He learned obedience by
the things which He suffered. 9
And having been perfected, He
became the author of eternal
salvation to all who obey Him

9. Have Your Weapons

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God;

The Bible is our weapon to defeat Satan

The Bible is how we ovecome temptation

We need to know the weapon, how to use it

Do you need weapon training?

10. Have Your Weapons

Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to
this end with all perseverance and supplication
for all the saints--

Prayer is the Christian's secret weapon

There is strength and power in prayer

Don't head into battle without this weapon

11. Meet the Enemy Head-on

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand.

James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the
devil and he will flee from you.

David and Goliath

There is no room for compromise

It is the hunter or the hunted (hunter or the
bear)

12. Are you a good soldier?

God expects His army (the church) to be
prepared to face the enemy.

We must be a good soldier in the Army of the
Lord.

