3. • Founded in 2001 by a group of youth of the village Rurka Kalan to counter the
menace of drugs in the area.
• Started as a Football Club but has now progressed to being an integrated
community based grassroots organization.
• Centers in 6 villages – Rurka Kalan, Jandiala, Shanker, Bilga, Akuna Tola & Sarhali.
• Impact areas include education, sports, health, youth development and
environment.
• More than two thousand beneficiaries of different programs annually.
• Touched more than ten thousand lives over the years.
• Registered under Societies Registration Act XXI 1860;
• Registered charity under Department of Income Tax, Govt. of India. Exempted
under 80G of the Income Tax Act;
• Affiliated with Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Govt.
of India;
• Affiliated with Department of Youth and Sports, Government of Punjab; and
• Affiliated with Punjab Football Association.
5. • With a view to stem the increasing use of drugs amongst the youth of the
village and surrounding areas and to provide better livelihood
opportunities to the underprivileged children and youth, some young
residents of the village formed a football club in the year 2001 and thus
Youth Football Club (“YFC”) came into being.
• This team worked hard the field to win prize money tournaments and
away from the field they volunteered in building infrastructure, raising
funds and educating children and youth.
• From being a football club to an integrated social service organization
with imprints in other sports, education, health, environment, youth
development, YFC Rurka Kalan has had a long journey and is making all
out efforts to play its part in areas of community betterment and rural
development.
7. • We dream of an India where every child goes to school or is provided with
decent education and is also provided with health care and shelter.
• We visualize ourselves as partners in a national and global campaign to
restore childhood to millions of children deprived of their basic needs.
• We wish to share our dreams and join hands with the government, civil
society, and corporate sector and with all those who wish to give
something back to society.
9. • YFC has constructed ‘Youth & Sports Development’ centre and the building houses:
– a Computer Laboratory
– Study Room
– Multi Activity room with LCD Projector & Theater System
– Excellent Boarding and Lodging facilities for 40 trainees
• YFC has also constructed a sports stadium in the village which has:
– a sitting capacity of more than 5000
– dressing rooms for two teams with washrooms
– rain gun irrigation system
• YFC and Dera Baba Bhai Sadhu Ji has jointly set-up BBS Institute of Computer Science
and Vocational Education which has:
– Air conditioned Hi – tech Computer lab
– Conference Hall
– Power Back Up (Generator).
16. Primary Education Initiative
YFC has adopted government primary school, Rurka Kalan, and has
provided the following facilities:
• Qualified teachers, motivated and dedicated towards overall personality
development of children
• Free uniforms, study material and transport facility for poor children
• Support in mid day meal programs
• Promotion of extracurricular activities and access to information
technology
• Providing desks, boards and other infrastructure to the school
17. Computer & Vocational Training Initiative
• Free computer education for the under privileged boys and girls.
• Run by qualified staff in a modern, well-equipped lab
• Providing computer education to over 200 boys and 100 girls.
• 60 girls from poor families are given stipend @ Rs.250 pm per girl.
• Runs Computer Education, Sewing and Stitching , Beautician Training
Centre for girls with BBS Institute of Computer Science and Vocational
Education.
23. Residential Football Academy
Residential Football Academy provides free of cost:
• 30-40 extraordinary talented players are provided boarding and lodging
with healthy diet and ultra modern training facilities
• Education is provided to the resident trainees
• Computer education to the resident trainees
• Regular mental training sessions are held by experts, psychologists and
coaches
• Regular medical care and check-ups by qualified doctors and in case of
injury to players proper care and medical facilities are provided by YFC
free of cost
• Sports tours including National & International Visits & Exposure
24. Day Trainees’ Program
YFC also runs a day trainees’ program and this program provides to 600
trainees the following facilities:
• Coaching;
• Kits & other equipment;
• Exposure Trips;
• Academic Coaching & Computer Education;
• Health Check-ups; and
• Life Skill workshops and training along with career counseling and
guidance
25. Other Initiatives – Sports
• Rural Soccer Coaches Training Program: To update the coaching staff of YFC
and other villages, the YFC arranges training programs where licensed coaches
from Canada and England deliver lectures and conduct practical sessions
• Girls’ Football: YFC started a program for girls’ coaching in collaboration with
“Shooting for Hope” of Canada. Under this program, 60 girls were given
training and equipment.
• Kabaddi Centre: 100 Kabaddi players are provided coaching and equipment.
• Running awareness campaigns regarding health, education etc. on the
sidelines of the sporting events being organized by YFC;
26. Edu-Football league – An Innovative Sports + Education Initiative
Edu-Football League includes:
• 90 football matches;
• 90 life skill workshops;
• Scientific football coaching for 200 days a year to all the registered 600
children;
• Free sports kits and other equipment;
• Educational material and stipend to needy children; and
• Exposure trips
30. Awareness campaigns
• YFC, at regular intervals, launches campaigns to spread awareness and
sensitize youth regarding the ill effects of drugs and diseases like AIDS
etc.
Health Camps
• YFC routinely organizes health camps like Breast Cancer Detection and
Awareness and Free Eye Check Up and Operation Camps.
33. Youth Awareness Camps
• Youth counseling camps are held at the YFC Complex. In these camps, a
resource person (from diverse fields of life) interacts with the youth.
Leadership Training Camps
• Residential camps with duration of generally five days.
• Eminent people give lectures, presentations and seminars on various topics
like the importance of discipline; time management; environment; female
foeticide; pollution and child labor etc; and
Cultural Programs
• With a view to inculcate ethos and values of community development; health;
and education etc., cultural programs are organized in the form of debates,
declamations, skits and musical events.
36. Tree Plantation Movement
• YFC organizes tree plantation campaign every year and on an average
around 1000 saplings are planted in and around Rurka Kalan.
Awareness Campaigns
• YFC also organizes environmental awareness campaigns and
environmental education also forms a key component of the workshops,
seminars and other events organized by YFC.
39. Future Plans include:
• Supporting Anganwadis/Balwadis of the region;
• Supporting and/or setting up of a Primary education school for children of
underprivileged backgrounds;
• Setting up a Skills Development Centre for the youth;
• Starting an English Language Proficiency Training Centre for children and youth
for enabling them to compete in today’s job market where more than
functional knowledge of English is required;
• Centre for Sporting Excellence for preparing trainees suitably for international
events;
• Increasing the reach from 6 villages to 60;
• Opening other similar centers for different sports like hockey, volleyball,
kabaddi, basketball etc.;
• Centre for children with special needs
