2. Holy Thursday
The first day of the Easter Tritium.
As Christians we celebrate Holy Thursday with mass, where we
break the bread and drink the wine.
3. Holy Thursday
On Holy Thursday Jesus gathered
with his disciples to break bread
with them. He said ‘This is my body,
which will be given up to you.’ then
he took the wine, gave thanks and
said, ‘This is my blood take it and
drink.’
Jesus took his disciples to the
garden of Gethsemane where
Jesus prayed to his father, begging
him to spare his fate, but was
interrupted and betrayed by Judas
Iscariot and was arrested and taken
before Pontius Pilate.
6. Easter Saturday
On Easter Saturday Jesus was taken from the cross and laid in a
tomb, where he was laid to rest.
As Christians we celebrate this day by going to the Vigil Mass and
watching the Easter fire be lit and occasionally the stations of the
cross. This mass takes place on the evening of Easter Saturday and
the early hours of Easter Sunday.
7. Easter Sunday
On Easter Sunday many people
including Catholics eat Easter
eggs, the most common symbol
of new life. Also many Catholics
go to Sunday mass with family.
