Six Cool Strategies for Making Money on the Internet
1. Designing and selling apparel and other merchandise.
This can be a lot of fun if you like designing things like T-shirts, mugs, bags and so forth. There are at
least two great sites for things like that: Cafepress.com and Zazzle.com
One thing to be aware of, though: carefully read through all the “Terms & Conditions,” because you
need to be aware of whether or not you own the rights to the products you design.
2. Selling things on Ebay.
This is a great opportunity for anybody who (A. has access to cheap or free used items of almost any
description, (B. can recondition used items, (C. has access to a supply of items that have just recently
become collector’s items, and/or (D. has access to a supply of surplus retail items.
I’m really not going to try to give examples here; the sky’s the limit.
3. Selling hand-made goods
This is a great option if you’re already skilled at something. For example, if you’re good at wood turning,
you could make and sell wooden bowls and other products. Unless you have a lot of time to master a
new skill…
…don’t try this at home!
2. 4. Freelancing
If you have any experience with some valuable computer-based skills, such as copywriting skills,
transcribing, or graphics design, you can hire yourself out! Sites like Elance.com, Odesk.com and
Fiverr.com are ready and waiting for you to “hang out your shingle.”
The pay can be fairly low, though, since entrepreneurs and companies go there to save on labor costs.
5. Domain name flipping
This is something that I haven’t heard much about, honestly. Basically, you buy abandoned web
domainnames of cruddy websites, rebuild them into beautiful sites, and sell them to interested buyers.
It takes a shrewd, Net-savvy and observant person who can judge whether a given domain is worth the
investment of time and money.
You need to be an entrepreneur at heart, because there is risk involved—just like “flipping houses.”
This could be a lucrative, though, if you’re so inclined; especially if you are a web designer. But, it seems
like a long-term strategy to me, so if you need to make money NOW, then read on…
3. 6. Blogging
This is something that anybody can do!
Typically, people make money blogging by hosting Google ads and getting paid through an AdSense
account. Or, they become affiliates for products that their readers would be likely to buy, and then get
paid commissions.
Other people launch their own products, like e-books and training videos, and sell them—along with
subscriptions to their site/services.
There is literally no limit on how much money you can make through blogging!
The problems:
--Free blog-hosting sites like Wordpress.com and Blogger.com don’t pay you to blog, and you can’t sell
anything on any free blog you set up there.
--You’ll have to buy your own domain name and hosting service. Unless you’re a web-designer, you’ll
either have to feel your way forward and set up your blog yourself, or else have to hire a professional to
do it for you.
--Without access to the knowledge and techniques for doing so, it can take a long, long time to get
enough people to your blog to make your money back.
A solution:
Rent a blog that’s already set up for you!
4. You can customize it, if you want to, and literally can start making money the same day—selling
anything and everything you want, to anybody you want (except “adult” products, of course).
When I got smart about making money on the Internet, I went this route, and I’ve never regretted it.
