3. Creation of Mood-o-Meter (1)
• Mood-o-Meter is a mobile emometer device application with a automatic
connection to a website
• Easy to use and 24/7 acces
• Acces to the application through login with password
• Patient grants access to his care provider through double opt-in
• Patient opens the app and submit mood/feeling of that moment (per
hour/ per day/ per week)
• Mood is presented through colored smiley’s
• Patient adds a short motivation
Great Good OK Poor Awful
4. • Webpage shows all results through flowcharts so a trend can be analysed
• The charts can be used in visits to the care providers; to monitor progress
and input for the consults
• Patient can use the charts as a self help recovery chart too.
• The care provider can use the information of the emometer to compare
the same patient cohorts.
– This provides trends in the illness, how to treat the illness more
effectively, etc.
• Another perk is that through the Mood-o-Meter a lot of unecessary
standard forms and consults can be skipped as the information is all there
and ready on the website.
• The next slides will give a feeling to the mobile device application and the
website idea:

• Patients have 24/7 access
• Patients have some control over own treatment
• Care providers will work more efficient
• Care providers can discover trends to improve treatment
• The Mood-o-Meter can be used in full chain of the healthcare, as it is
not disease restricted
Special effects
11. • A pilot of the Mood-o-Meter will be run in one hospital in a specific
department, to be decided in consultation with the pilot hospital.
• The initial user group exists of a number of patients that want to
participate in a pilot, with a maximum of 20 patients.
• If the Mood-o-Meter is accepted, after a trial run of 3 months, the
application can be rolled out to an unlimited audience.
• As the application is not disease specific any healthcare institution or
chain of healthcare providers can implement the Mood-o-Meter.
• Through (social) media platforms, patient associations and care
providers the Mood-o-Meter will be marketed.
The Audience
12. Special features
• In order to make the Mood-o-Meter a success it is essential that The
Caretakers will get a sponsor to initiate the project. We don’t see a risk
here as we have many contacts in all participating fields (software,
communication, healthcare)
• As it is an initiative from two patients with time on there hands great
effort can be put into the whole concept of The Caretaker, including the
social innovation that we have submitted, see also
http://www.thecaretakers.nl
13. Final scene: Risk/ Benefit
Risks
• The only risk we can at current see in this project is that if The
Caretakers don’t win the H2Ochallenge they will need to find means to
make the technical episode a succes. However as we strongly believe in
the full concept we will put everything to work to make this full concept
idea, including the social innovation, a great succes!
Benefits:
• The key benefit of the Mood-o-Meter is that the patients becomes
involved in his own recovery process
• Through a technical application both patient and care provider will get
better and accurate information on the mood development throughout
the recovery period
• The Mood-o-Meter is one technical development in a total patient
initiated concept. Please also check out http://www.thecaretakers.nl!
