1. Project Analysis
For our project we were tasked to create a viral video advertising
another group’s short film, our idea is based on the idea of an angry
bird being shot into a variety of older video games and interacting
with them.
I came up with the idea of this when we were discussing Jedi’s short
film idea, which revolves around gaming , so I came up with the idea
of the angry bird going to different games which we all discussed and
fine tuned to create our final idea and make it something we could
adapt into a viral video.
There’s a few things that would of gone better if given more time,
experience and a bigger budget on our video:
1. The first would just be making the overall presentation look
more professional, by that I mean that the look of the live
action scenes look a little amateurish in comparison to other
scenes. Also the angry bird could look better in the live action
scenes and going into the gaming devices itself
2. The 2nd think would be to organize the production and post
production better as I feel it was left to one person to do more
work then everyone in the group, whilst some people didn’t
even do any real contributing at all.
My contribution to the task:
I think I contributed most to the task as I came up with the idea, did
most of the editing, after effects etc. I will now go into detail into my
contribution on this task.
1. I was the one that came up with the idea for making it so the
angry bird would go to other games and what programs we
would use to do this, I choose after effects and premiere to do
this as I thought it would be easier to do this as both are quite
simple to do the animation with and premiere in particular is
extremely easy to do basic editing with and unlike after effects
doesn’t has problems with sound.
2. 2. The next thing I did was to draw out detailed drawings of all of
my story boards, I spend around 6 hours to do around 4 story
boards and these story boards were detailing all the actions of
the live action scenes. Then I spent the same amount of time
and effort detailing the other story boards that detailed what
would happen in the in game scenes.
3. The next thing I did was to assist Steve with the recording, he
made sure with me that he had the shots right, in a way I was
the director whilst he was the cameraman. However he did
contribute to the placement of quite a few scenes.
4. Once all the scenes were recorded it was Dans job to do the
editing, however he said he couldn’t find a convertor for
quicktime files to avi, yet I found one after 5 minutes of looking
around, making us not be able to finish off what was needed
until the last weekend forcing me to have to do all the
aftereffects in effectively one weekend. Yet somehow I was still
to blame in their eyes, even though it was there inability to do a
simple task til the last minute which forced me to stay behind
at college for 5 hours, whilst they left me to do all the
aftereffects. However Dan didn’t export the RAM preview from
aftereffects the first time, so I was forced to replace all the
sound and clips myself, to add sound and also tidy up some of
the editing, which wasn’t what I assigned myself to do, but I
wanted it to look presentable so I took it upon myself to finish
the editing and make sure everything looked good enough to
present. I basically did all the fine details of the editing and Dan
just did a rough cut , whilst messing up the sound which I had
to then fix.
5. After that was all done I had to find and add music to the video,
which we decided would be best if we used the angry birds
theme throughout the video, but I decided to have it start once
the iphone is out of the box to show how the angry bird can
affect the normal world in more ways then one.
The problems we had were that we didn’t spread the work
evenly enough and at times it seems like people just didn’t care
about the task we were doing and I personally feel that I did
more then anyone in the group and I hope that this analysis
and evidence on my blog is proof of this .
