In order to get there, SAISD began a restructuring plan. It is currently in the 4 th phase of this plan. The purpose of this plan is to consolidate resources in order to save monies that can be reinvested into our schools. Currently, many schools are not operating at full capacity. Consolidating resources results in school closures and money saved. Since the inception of this plan $14.5 million have been reinvested in our schools.
$3 million dollars of the money has been applied to improved technology in our schools. More than 3,000 computers have been purchased and many new technology programs have been added to the curriculum. Programs such as graphic design, animation, and environmental design are some of the programs recently added.
Phase III of the restructuring plan is still in progress and phase IV begins next school year. This means more consolidation and school closures, resulting in monies saved and used to make SAISD schools equitable to neighboring districts. Take a look at this video that further explains the goals of the restructuring plan.

Take a brief moment to look at this image. (Pause for a moment) This image is truly a reality check of how learning is changing. It’s odd nowadays to see a child choose a book when technology is so readily available to them. This is why we need to do everything possible to adapt as quickly as we can to these changes.
