WELCOME TO THIS AFTERNOON’S LOCAL MEDIA ASSOCIATION WEBINAR. I’M AL CUPO, Vice President FOR LMA. TODAY’S WEBINAR IS…Will Newspaper Paywalls Kill Web Advertising? This webinar is being offered as a follow-up to a lively discussion on LMA’s Local Media Trends Linkedin page.As the webinar description points-out:About one-fourth of all newspapers now have paywalls on their websites, with more to come. But 95% of all "local news" sites probably won't go that route. This webinar points to a bigger issue: Newspapers are getting beaten in the race to deliver content that holds the greatest value of all online: Advertising content. In just a moment I’ll ask Gordon Borrell, CEO of BorrellAsociates to take the virtual podium but first a few quick announcements.
YOU CAN FIND A COMPLETE LIST OF UPCOMING WEBINARS AT THE LMA WEBSITE—THE URL IS LOCALMEDIA.ORG. WE ALSO SEND OUT REGULAR EMAILS ANNOUNCING UPCOMING WEBINARS, SO BE SURE YOU ARE ON OUR MAILING LIST.
WE ALSOENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW US AT FACEBOOK AND ON TWITTER.
There are a couple live events coming-up that you should no about….
A FEW HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS FIRST–YOU CAN ASK A QUESTION AT ANY TIME BY USING THE QUESTION BOX LOCATED ON THE GOTOWEBINAR DASHBOARD. WE WILL ADDRESS YOUR QUESTIONS AS TIME ALLOWS. ALL WEBINARS ARE ARCHIVED FOR LATER VIEWING ON OUR WEBSITE IN A COUPLE DAYS, LOOK FOR AN EMAIL ANNOUNCING THE AVAILABILITY.
WE ALSO HAVE A BRIEF SURVEY AT THE END, SO WE HOPE YOU TAKE A MINUTE TO GIVE US SOME FEEDBACK.
