All of the great CEOs would agree that talent is long-term value creation, and that talent is their #1 priority.
LinkedIn’s mission is to connect the world’s professionals, and they have the most robust group of professionals at that. It is their exclusive area of focus, allowing us to connect billions of people around world in milliseconds.
LinkedIn has three value propositions that are theircore focus and we continue to prioritize our initiatives around these: 1) Professional Identity 2) Professional Insights and 3) Everywhere – wherever and whenever people are. While theirfocus on these three values hasn’t changed over time, their rate of innovation has changed. In fact they are experiencing the fastest rate of change in the company’s history.
1) Professional IdentityPROFILE PAGE: Starting with professional identity, this is the heart of the LinkedIn ecosystem. It starts with the individual profile page, a way for members to build their professional brand online. This is the way in which folks like you can search populations and make matches with incredible precision. LinkedIn generates over 5 billion professionally oriented searches.
Again, we’re not just talking about job seekers looking for their dream jobs. We’re talking about entrepreneurs, salespeople, and professionals of all kinds tapping the knowledge and expertise in their networks so that they can be better at their jobs.
We’ve found that people are updating their profiles even when they are not looking for work. Think about that: when was the last time you updated your resume when you were not looking for work? So to be able to find those passive candidates, LinkedIn is continuing to invest heavily to make it easier and easier for members to update their profiles.
The new Linked Profile.A new design to share your professional story, Rich insights about your network and yourself, More ways to connect and build relationships
The new profile & EndorsementsNow this has great importance to recruiters. When someone I am connected to really corroborates that expertise, it adds a great deal of credibility. And I can see all of the other skills he’s been endorsed for too. We’ve removed all the friction so that it’s now seamless… I can just click a button and endorse. Your connections can also suggest skills that you may not have selected for yourself. The product is off to an incredibly strong start. We only launched it three weeks ago and we’ve seen 10 million daily endorsements.
2) Professional InsightsNow let’s move on to insights. This is how we can better serve your needs – we can ensure that we leverage that data to get the right business intelligence in front of the right member at the right time.
New redesigned Homepage
LinkedIn has also just introduced INFLUENCERS. Let’s take a look at Richard Branson as an example; he already has 300,000 followers! We now offer the opportunity to follow certain members, and those members can add long-form narratives to their profiles… it doesn’t have to be a short update as was the case previously. In the week and a half that he gained 300,000 followers, he’s had 12,000 likes, and 5000 comments… amazing engagement!
We also have David Cameron, jacquesAttali – and over 150 other luminaries. And they’ve gained over 2 million followers in just the past two weeks. We are the professional source of insights. We are where you can see posts by the president of the World Bank talking about how to eradicate poverty, or the President of the United States talk about how to restart the economy. It’s then that you begin to understand and to see what’s possible when a knowledge-sharing engine of this magnitude comes to life. And we’ve only just begun!
Everywhere
LinkedIn is working wherever their members are. They are continuing to invest in MOBILE solutions, whether it’s for smart phones, tablets, or applications. They’ve seen a sharp increase in mobile usage: now over 23% of weekly visits to LinkedIn are through mobile devices, up from 10% one year ago.
The value LinkedIn provides is with these three things: identity, insights, and everywhere.
We are the largest professional network, with over 175 million members, and over 2 sign-ups per second. In the past year, we’ve added 50 million members. To put that in perspective, it took six years for us to add our first 58 million members. 50m+ members in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) as of June 30, 2012 *would go with this one as we have attendees from South Africa and Dubai flying in. 39m+ members in Europe as of June 30, 2012
